Whistle (band)
Whistle was an American 1980s hip hop and contemporary R&B group that was composed of Jazzy Jazz, Kool Doobie, and DJ Silver Spinner. The group later brought in Kraze and then Terk after Kool Doobie left the group to go solo. Their biggest hit single as a hip hop group was "(Nothing Serious) Just Buggin'" in 1986. Biography The group's first two albums, ''Whistle'' (released in 1986) and ''Transformation'' (released in 1988) were produced by the Kangol Kid from UTFO and DJ Howie Tee. Kangol and Howie brought in keyboardist/sound wizard Gary Pozner (who had already become a staff producer at Select Records) to handle the sound sampling and help with beat creation. Whistle's third album, ''Always and Forever'', was released in 1990 and was also produced by Kangol Kid. A fourth album, ''Get the Love'', was released in 1992. Contemporary R&B
Contemporary R&B (or simply R&B) is a popular music genre that combines rhythm and blues with elements of pop, soul, funk, hip hop, and electronic music. The genre features a distinctive record production style, drum machine-backed rhythms, pitch corrected vocals, and a smooth, lush style of vocal arrangement. Electronic influences are becoming an increasing trend and the use of hip hop or dance-inspired beats are typical, although the roughness and grit inherent in hip hop may be reduced and smoothed out. Contemporary R&B vocalists often use melisma, and since the mid-1980s, R&B rhythms have been combined with elements of hip hop culture and music and pop culture and pop music. Always And Forever (Heatwave Song)
"Always and Forever" is an R&B song written by Rod Temperton and produced by Barry Blue. It was first recorded by the British-based multinational funk-disco band Heatwave in 1976. Released as a single on December 3, 1977, the song is included on Heatwave's debut album '' Too Hot to Handle'' (1976) and has been covered by numerous artists, becoming something of a standard. The song reached number 18 on the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100 in March 1978 after peaking at number two on the US ''Billboard'' R&B chart, the band's highest showing on that tally. The single was certified platinum by the RIAA on September 6, 2001. Entouch was an American male Alternative R&B group, composed of Eric McCaine and Eric Smith, also known as Free. They were signed to Elektra Entertainment during the height of the new jack swing era. The duo's 1989 debut album was called ''All Nite'' and featured two singles, "II Hype" and "All Nite". The single "II Hype", released in 1989, peaked at No 18 on the ''Billboard'' R&B chart.
