What We Leave Behind (2022 Film)
''What We Leave Behind'' is a 2022 documentary film. It's a portrait of director Iliana Sosa's grandfather, Julián Moreno, as he starts building a house in the Mexican state of Durango. As a younger man, Julián had spent decades living between the United States and Mexico, first working as a bracero and later traveling by bus to visit his children and grandchildren in the Southwestern United States. In the film, Julián revisits this past with his granddaughter as the two forge a tighter bond together. Voiceovers from the director punctuate the film and pair with imagery of the local landscape; the soundtrack features an a cappella song by the Cardencheros de Sapioriz, who are also from Durango. Isidore Bethel
Isidore Bethel is a French-American filmmaker whom ''Filmmaker'' named one of the "25 New Faces of Independent Film" in 2020. The films he edits, directs, and produces use filmmaking to make sense of overwhelming experiences and touch on recurrent themes of displacement, sexuality, aging, trauma, grief, therapy, and art-making. The Museum of the Moving Image is a media museum located in a former building of the historic Astoria Studios (now Kaufman Astoria Studios), in the Astoria neighborhood in Queens, New York City. Thin Line Fest
Thin Line Fest, often abbreviated as TL Fest, is an annual city-wide festival of film and music organized jointly that takes place during the spring in Denton, Texas, United States. The film portion of the festival is the longest running documentary film festival in Texas. The film sessions and music shows are spread across different venues across the city throughout the duration of the event. The Fest also hosts film award ceremonies.
