"What Drives the Weak" is the second single by Shadows Fall from their album '' The War Within''. The song peaked at no. 38 on the Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. The song was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance at the 48th Annual Grammy Awards, but lost to " Before I Forget" by Slipknot. Music video The song's music video was directed by Zach Merck. The video shows the band performing the song in a house inhabited by bikers. The video is inter-cut with shots of vocalist Brian Fair wandering around the house and encountering weird happenings while the other members interact with the bikers. Shadows Fall is an American metalcore band from Boston, Massachusetts, formed in 1996. Although Shadows Fall has experienced several line-up changes, for most of its recording career, Shadows Fall has been composed of Jon Donais (lead guitar, backing vocals), Matt Bachand (rhythm guitar, clean vocals), Paul Romanko (bass), Brian Fair (lead vocals), and Jason Bittner (drums). Shadows Fall has released seven studio albums, two compilation albums, and two DVDs. The band's first album featured Philip Labonte (of All That Remains) on lead vocals; but, he was soon replaced by Fair. Slipknot is an American heavy metal band formed in Des Moines, Iowa, in 1995 by percussionist Shawn Crahan, drummer Joey Jordison and bassist Paul Gray. After several lineup changes in its early years, the band settled on nine members for more than a decade: Crahan, Jordison, Gray, Craig Jones, Mick Thomson, Corey Taylor, Sid Wilson, Chris Fehn, and Jim Root. "Before I Forget" is a song by American heavy metal band Slipknot, released as the third single from the band's third studio album, '' Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses)'' (2004). It was cited by AOL as the top metal song of the decade. It also won a Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance in 2006. "Before I Forget" borrows elements from a much older Slipknot song "Carve", recorded before their self-titled album. The earliest version was in 1996 with Anders Colsefni on vocals.
