Westridge, British Columbia
Westridge is a residential neighbourhood in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada. Location Westridge is located on the western slope of Burnaby Mountain. It is sliced almost in half by Inlet Drive. The western half of it lies close to the shores of Burrard Inlet and the railway tracks on which West Coast Express runs between Downtown Vancouver and Port Moody. The eastern half of Westridge climbs quite steeply up Burnaby Mountain. Westridge is located near Simon Fraser University to which it is linked by the newly built Burnaby Mountain Parkway. Transportation Westridge was formerly served by the 135 bus route that ran between Downtown Vancouver and SFU; service through the neighbourhood was eventually discontinued, and the 135 was replaced by the 95 B-Line, which later became route R5 Hastings St. The R5 is still the nearest bus route, with stops along Hastings Street at Duthie Avenue. Westridge (Edmonton)
Westridge is a residential neighbourhood in west Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The neighbourhood is bounded to the north and northeast by Patricia Ravine and to the south by Wolf Willow Ravine. The southeast tip overlooks the North Saskatchewan River valley. The western boundary is 170 Street. Access to the neighbourhood is exclusively by way of Wolf Willow Road. According to the 2001 federal census, four out of five (80.2%) of the residences in Westridge were built during the 1970s. The remaining one in five (19.8%) were built during the 1980s. Almost all of the houses in the neighbourhood (93.5%), according to the 2005 municipal census, are single-family dwellings. The remainder (6.5%) are row houses. Initially, a few units of Signals Battalion were established here in 1916. Later on, a few other military units were moved in an effort to strengthen the hold of British Army in Rawalpindi. These units consisted of Frontier Force, Air Defense, and Artillery. Later on, Special Communication Organization was also transferred here. Westridge is an area on the edge of Ryde on the Isle of Wight, based on the road junction of Westridge Cross. Its location on the outskirts of the largest town on the Island, around miles from Ryde town centre, has led to the development of a number of out-of-town commercial and industrial units.
