Westlands is an affluent, mixed-use commercial and residential neighbourhood in Nairobi. Location Westlands is located approximately , by road, northwest of the central business district of Nairobi. The geographical coordinates of the neighbourhood are: 01°16'01.0"S, 36°48'42.0"E (Latitude:-1.266944; Longitude:36.811667). Overview Westlands was a residential district during the colonial period which ended in 1963. Then, it housed mainly Kenyan Asians of Indian descent. During the 1990s and early 2000s, as land and office space became scarce and exorbitantly priced in the central business district, more businesses have relocated to Westlands and Upper Hill, where land and office space are more readily available and less expensive. The Counties of Kenya ( sw, Kaunti za Kenya) are geographical units envisioned by the 2010 Constitution of Kenya as the new units of devolved government that replaced the previous provincial system. Kilimani is a mixed-use commercial and residential neighbourhood in the city of Nairobi. Location Kilimani is located approximately west of Nairobi's central business district, within Westlands Sub-county. It is north of Woodley; east of Kileleshwa, mainly separated by the Kirichwa River; the larger Kilimani area encompasses the Hurlingham, Caledonia, Upper Hill, and the Kilimani estates. Kangemi
Kangemi is a slum in Kenya located, like many other slums in Nairobi, on the outskirts of the city. It is bordered on the north by the middle-class neighbourhoods of Loresho and Kibagare and Westlands on its west. Its southern border connects with Kawangware, another large slum and its eastern border connects to Mountain View, another middle class enclave. It is on the road connecting Nairobi with Naivasha. Kangemi likely has more than 100,000 residents. While it is a multi-ethnic slum, the largest group of residents consists of the Luhya tribe. Kangemi is located in a small valley. The slum has no sewerage. About 20,000 persons belong to a Catholic parish based in Kangemi. The St. Joseph Catholic Parish is one of the places Pope Francis visited during his visit to Africa between 26 and 30 November 2015, of which Kenya was his first stopover. Pumwani
Pumwani is an estate of Nairobi. In 2005 it had an estimated population of 29,616. The Pumwani Maternity Hospital is located in Pumwani. It is the largest public maternity hospital in Kenya. Many Kenyan freedom fighters are known to have lived in Pumwani including the first and the second presidents, Jomo Kenyatta and Daniel Moi.
