Westland-Yeovil
Westland Sports Football Club is a football club based in Yeovil, Somerset England. They currently play in the at their home ground of Alvington Lane. The club is affiliated to the Somerset County FA. History The club was founded in 1939, but the second world war prevented regular competitive football. After the war though in 1946, the club was able to field two sides, one Yeovil and District League team, and one youth side. However the club did not achieve any success until the Yeovil League charity cup win in the 1962–63. In 1964–65 the club withdrew from the Yeovil and District League due to loss of players to Yeovil Town. The situation was short-lived, and the club reformed under the guidance of Dave Topping in the Yeovil League in the 1966–67 season with the intention of entering senior football as soon as possible. It has a total of three divisions including the Yeovil and District League Premier Division which sits at level 14 of the English football league system. Somerset Senior League
The Somerset County League is a football competition based in England. The Premier Division sits at step 7 (or level 11) of the National League System. It is a feeder to the Western League Division One and has promoted a club in seven of the last ten seasons – Hengrove Athletic, Portishead, Radstock Town, Oldland Abbotonians, Wells City, Cheddar, Ashton & Backwell United and Nailsea & Tickenham. Presently, the league has four divisions. Yeovil
Yeovil ( ) is a town and civil parishes in England, civil parish in the district of South Somerset, England. The population of Yeovil at the last census (2011) was 45,784. The Dorset Premier Football League is a football league based in Dorset, England, which sits at Step 7 of the National League System, or level 11 of the overall English football league system. History The league was formed in 1957 under the name Dorset Football Combination League when a number of senior clubs within the county became disillusioned at being dictated to by junior and minor clubs. Ken Wookey (footballer Born 1946)
Kenneth George Wookey (30 December 1946 – 16 December 1992) was a Welsh footballer and football manager. A striker, he spent six years in the Football League. His father, also called Ken Wookey, was also a professional footballer. He started his career with local club Newport County in 1964. After five years with County, he was loaned out to Lovell's Athletic, before signing permanently with Port Vale in 1969. After helping the "Valiants" to promotion out of the Fourth Division in 1969–70, he transferred to Workington. In 1971, he dropped into non-league football when he joined Yeovil Town. He later played for Salisbury City, Barry Town, Westland Sports, Chard Town, Glastonbury Town, and Sturminster Newton United. He later managed Sturminster Newton and Shaftesbury.
