West Ealing Railway Station
West Ealing railway station is on the Great Western Main Line in Ealing, situated in west London. It is down the line from London Paddington and is situated between to the east and to the west. Its three-letter station code is WEA. Most trains serving the station are operated by the Elizabeth line running between Abbey Wood and . History The station was opened on 1 March 1871 as Castle Hill on the Great Western Railway, which was constructed from London Paddington through Ealing to Maidenhead in 1836–1838. Crossrail is a railway construction project mainly in central London. Its aim is to provide a high-frequency hybrid commuter rail and rapid transit system crossing the capital from suburbs on the west to east, by connecting two major railway lines terminating in London: the Great Western Main Line and the Great Eastern Main Line. The Acton–Northolt line (ANL), historically known as the New North main line (NNML), is a railway line in West London, England. Realtime Trains is a website that tracks trains on the British railway network. History Realtime Trains was launched in October 2012 by Tom Cairns, a student at the University of Southampton. In March 2020, Abellio ScotRail became the first operator to share additional rolling stock information with Realtime Trains. The additional information was dubbed ''Know Your Train'', and includes a visual overview of the type of rolling stock and number of carriages used by each service. High Wycombe Railway Station
High Wycombe railway station is a railway station in the town of High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, England. The station is on the Chiltern Main Line between and stations. It is served by Chiltern Railways. History The original terminus station was built in 1854 after an original design by Isambard Kingdom Brunel. The station had one platform and a train shed that covered two broad gauge tracks. On one side of the train shed was a single road engine shed and on the platform side were a booking office and waiting rooms (on the Birdcage Walk side). The walls of the train shed, an engine shed and offices were constructed from brick and knapped flint with slate roofs. This building remained as a station in use until 1864 when it became a goods shed. Between the 1880s and 1940 various additions were made to the fabric of the old station. South Ruislip Station
South Ruislip is a station served by London Underground and Chiltern Railways in South Ruislip in North-West London. The station is owned, managed and staffed by London Underground. The station is in Travelcard Zone 5. History The GWR/GCR Joint line to High Wycombe carried services from both Paddington and Marylebone. They met at Northolt Junction, situated slightly to the east of the station, from where four tracks ran westwards to Ruislip Gardens and West Ruislip; there the route shrank to two tracks only. Parliamentary Train
A parliamentary train was a passenger service operated in the United Kingdom to comply with the Railway Regulation Act 1844 that required train companies to provide inexpensive and basic rail transport for less affluent passengers. The act required that at least one such service per day be run on every railway route in the UK. Now no longer a legal requirement (although most franchise agreements require such trains), the term now describes train services that continue to be run to avoid the cost of formal closure of a route or station but with reduced services often to just one train per week and without specially low prices. The Oyster card is a payment method for public transport in London (and certain areas around it) in England, United Kingdom. A standard Oyster card is a blue credit-card-sized stored-value contactless smart card.
