West Carleton Inferno
The Almonte Inferno are a junior ice hockey team based in Almonte, Ontario. They play in the National Capital Junior Hockey League. History On March 30, 2017, a franchise was awarded to Blackburn, Ontario to start play in the 2017–18 season along with 3 other new franchises. On April 16, 2018, the Blackburn Inferno would be sold and moved to Carp, Ontario and named the West Carleton Inferno. They would announce their home arena to be the W. Erskine Johnston Arena in Carp, Ontario. On August 27, 2021, the West Carleton Inferno would announce on social media that they were relocating to Almonte, Ontario and named the Almonte Inferno. Almonte, Ontario
Almonte ( ; ) is a former mill town in Lanark County, in the eastern portion of Ontario, Canada. Formerly a separate municipality, Almonte is a ward of the town of Mississippi Mills, which was created on January 1, 1998, by the merging of Almonte with Ramsay and Pakenham townships. Almonte is south-west of downtown Ottawa. Its population as recorded in the 2016 Canadian Census was 5,039. History European settlement Almonte's first European-bred settler was David Shepherd, who in 1818 was given by the Crown to build and operate a mill. The site became known as Shepherd's Falls. That name was never official, however, and Shepherd sold his patent after his mill burned down. National Capital Junior Hockey League
The National Capital Junior Hockey League (NCJHL) is a Junior ice hockey league in Ontario, Canada, sanctioned by the Hockey Eastern Ontario and Hockey Canada. The league is meant to be an interprovincial league between Ontario and Quebec. History From 1968 until 2010, the league was known as the Eastern Ontario Junior C Hockey League. At the start of the 2010-2011 regular season, the league was rebranded under its new name - National Capital Junior Hockey League (NCJHL). In April 2015, the NCJHL accepted the application of the Morrisburg Lions to join the league for starting in the 2015-2016 season. Ice hockey (or simply hockey) is a team sport played on ice skates, usually on an ice skating rink with lines and markings specific to the sport. It belongs to a family of sports called hockey. Blackburn Hamlet
Blackburn Hamlet is a suburban community in Innes Ward, in the east end of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Before the 2001 amalgamation of the city of Ottawa, it was in the city of Gloucester. It is surrounded by rural areas and contains several older and newer areas of settlement. According to the Canada 2021 Census, its population was 8,173. The community took its name from Robert Blackburn, former Member of Parliament for Russell. Carp is a compact rural community in West Carleton-March Ward in the City of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, located in the northwestern portion of the municipality on the Carp River.
