Welcome To Nollywood
''Welcome to Nollywood'' is a 2007 documentary film about the Nigerian movie industry, directed by Jamie Meltzer. It premiered at the Full Frame Documentary Film Festival, and also played at the Avignon Film Festival and the Melbourne International Film Festival in the summer of 2007. Premise The Cinema of Nigeria, Nigerian film industry, known as Nollywood (term), Nollywood, has exploded in the last ten years. Now the most popular cinema in all of West Africa—more popular even than imports of Cinema of the United States, Hollywood or Bollywood films—the Nigerian film industry has distinguished itself by shooting all films (called video films there) on digital video. Chico Ejiro
Chico Ejiro (born Chico Maziakpono; died 25 December 2020) was a Nigerian movie director, screenwriter, and producer. Little is known about Ejiro other than he was born in Isoko, Delta, Nigeria, and that he originally studied agriculture, and he was drawn into video production because Nigerians would not buy blank video cassettes. His enormous body of work was typical of the second generation that started in the 1990s when cheap video-production equipment became available in the country. He owned a production company called Grand Touch Pictures, which is based in Lagos. Nicknamed Mr. Prolific, he directed over 80 movies within a 5-year period—each one shot in as little as three days. Tunde Kelani (born 26 February 1948), popularly known as TK, is a Nigerian filmmaker. Peace Anyiam-Osigwe MFR (previously Peace Anyiam-Fiberesima; 30 March 1969 – 9 January 2023) was a Nigerian filmmaker and entertainment executive who was called "the queen of Nollywood films". A film producer is a person who oversees film production.
