Web Enhancement
A web enhancement is a bonus expansion to a role-playing game product, that can be read and/or downloaded from the website of the company that published the role-playing product it is associated with. Concept The web enhancement concept was created by Sue Weinlein Cook, who was an editor at Tactical Studies Rules, Inc. (TSR) and later the brand manager at Wizards of the Coast (WotC). There is a common belief that web enhancements are created from content cut from the published products, but many of them are specifically commissioned as bonus material. A role-playing game (sometimes spelled roleplaying game, RPG) is a game in which players assume the roles of player character, characters in a fictional Setting (narrative), setting. Players take responsibility for acting out these roles within a narrative, either through literal acting or through a process of structured decision-making regarding character development. Actions taken within many games succeed or fail according to a formal role-playing game system, system of rules and guidelines. There are several forms of role-playing games. Sue Weinlein Cook ( Weinlein) is an American game designer and editor who has worked on a number of products for the ''Dungeons & Dragons'' fantasy role-playing game from TSR, and for Monte Cook's Malhavoc Press. Biography Sue Weinlein was born in Green Bay, Wisconsin, and grew up in the Milwaukee area. Her first exposure to the ''Dungeons & Dragons'' game was in junior high: "I'm embarrassed to admit this... I really didn't get it at first. I just couldn't make the transition from board games to roleplaying games." After living in Tennessee for a few years, she returned to Milwaukee and attended Marquette University, earning degrees in Journalism and Spanish. TSR, Inc. was an American game publishing company, best known as the original publisher of ''Dungeons & Dragons'' (''D&D''). Its earliest incarnation, Tactical Studies Rules, was founded in October 1973 by Gary Gygax and Don Kaye. Gygax had been unable to find a publisher for ''D&D'', a new type of game he and Dave Arneson were co-developing, so founded the new company with Kaye to self-publish their products. Needing financing to bring their new game to market, Gygax and Kaye brought in Brian Blume in December as an equal partner. ''Dungeons & Dragons'' is generally considered the first tabletop role-playing game (TTRPG), and established the genre. ''d20 Modern'' is a modern fantasy role-playing game system designed by Bill Slavicsek, Jeff Grubb, Rich Redman, and Charles Ryan. Green Ronin Publishing is an American company based in Seattle, Washington. Founded in 2000 by Chris Pramas and Nicole Lindroos, they have published several role-playing game–related products.
