Cephus Weatherspoon
Cephus Weatherspoon is a former American football wide receiver who played professionally for the New Orleans Saints of the National Football League (NFL) and the Birmingham Vulcans of the World Football League (WFL). Weatherspoon attended Fort Lewis College, where he also played basketball as a guard, after transferring from Mesa Community College. He was drafted by the Saints in the 13th round of the 1972 NFL draft with the 320th overall pick. The Saints said of him that he is "A quick starter who can accelerate rapidly – and he can make nifty moves at top speed (4.6)...He has quick hands and feet and an excellent attitude." The Saints waived him towards the end of the preseason but then signed him to their taxi squad. He was activated for the Saints' November 8 game against the Minnesota Vikings when linebacker Ray Hester and running back Arthur Green were injured and played mostly on special teams. Johnny "Chuck" Weatherspoon, Jr. (born July 31, 1968) is a former American football running back who played one season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the National Football League (NFL). He was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the ninth round of the 1991 NFL Draft. Weatherspoon played college football at the University of Houston. He was also a member of the Fort Worth Cavalry of the Arena Football League (AFL). Early years and college career Weatherspoon attended La Habra High School in La Habra, California. He played for the Houston Cougars of the University of Houston from 1987 to 1990. He recorded career totals of 3,247 yards and 27 touchdowns on 395 rushing attempts. Clarence Weatherspoon, Sr. (born September 8, 1970) is a former American professional basketball player in the National Basketball Association (NBA) born in Crawford, Mississippi. He is currently the assistant coach for Jones County JC. Previously, he was an assistant coach for the Southern Miss Golden Eagles. At the University of Southern Mississippi, Weatherspoon was a three-time Metro Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Year, the only player in conference history to achieve the feat three times. He was selected by the Philadelphia 76ers as the ninth pick in the 1992 NBA draft. Nick Levoter Weatherspoon (July 20, 1950 – October 17, 2008) was an American professional basketball player. Career Weatherspoon, nicknamed "Spoon", scored 1,431 points at Canton McKinley High School, holding the Bulldog scoring record for 37 years until Raymar Morgan broke it during the 2005–06 season. He was an All-American at the University of Illinois before being selected by the Capital Bullets with the 13th pick of the 1973 NBA draft. Named to the 1974 NBA All-Rookie Team, Weatherspoon spent a total of seven seasons in the NBA with the Bullets, the Seattle SuperSonics, the Chicago Bulls, and the San Diego Clippers. Quinndary Sammy Weatherspoon (born September 10, 1996) is an American professional basketball player who last played for the Tianjin Pioneers of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA). He played four seasons of college basketball for the Mississippi State Bulldogs. Weatherspoon was selected 49th overall by the San Antonio Spurs in the 2019 NBA draft. After two seasons with the team, he joined the Warriors in 2021. During his first season with the Warriors, he won an NBA championship. Teresa Gaye Weatherspoon (born December 8, 1965) is an American professional basketball coach and former player who serves as assistant coach for the New Orleans Pelicans of the National Basketball Association (NBA). She played for the New York Liberty and Los Angeles Sparks of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) and served as the head basketball coach of the Louisiana Tech Lady Techsters. Weatherspoon was inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in 2010, and the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2019. William Weatherspoon
William Henry Weatherspoon (February 11, 1936 – July 17, 2005) was an American songwriter and record producer, best known for his work for Motown Records in the 1960s. He co-wrote "What Becomes of the Brokenhearted", an international hit for Jimmy Ruffin, and many other hit songs. Biography He was born in Detroit, Michigan; his younger brother was the actor John Witherspoon. William Weatherspoon began singing in 1956 with a local vocal group, the Tornados, led by Charles Sutton, formerly of The Midnighters. The group split up in 1960, and, after a spell in the US military, Weatherspoon began working as a songwriter and producer for the Correc-Tone label in Detroit. After that label folded, he began working for Motown, and paired up with fellow songwriter James Dean to write a series of hits, mostly for junior or relatively minor artists on the company's roster.
