Political career Saleem contested the 2020 Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly election on 15 November 2020 from Constituency GBLA-9, GBA-9 (Skardu-III) as an Independent (politician), Independent candidate. He won the election by the margin of 1,099 votes over the runner up Fida Muhammad Nashad of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). He garnered 6,286 votes while Nashad received 5,187 votes. After winning the election, Saleem joined PTI. The Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly (GBA), formerly known as Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly (GBLA), is a unicameral legislature of elected representatives of Autonomous territory (de-facto Pakistani province) of Gilgit-Baltistan, which is located in Jutial neighbourhood in the city of Gilgit, the capital of Gilgit-Baltistan. Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP; ur, , ) is a political party in Pakistan. It was founded by Jahangir Tareen on 8 June 2023. It was registered with the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on 5 October 2023. History The pre-existing tensions between Tareen and Imran Khan, the chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, combined with the May 9 protests, ultimately resulted in numerous politicians resigning from the PTI and the subsequent formation of the new political party. Fida Muhammad Nashad is a senior Pakistani politician from Gilgit Baltistan who served as the 2nd speaker of the Gilgit Baltistan Assembly. He was a member of the Pakistan Muslim League N. He joined Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. He is the chairman of Baltistan Culture and Development Foundation (BCDF). Early life and education Fida Muhammad Nashad belongs to The Royal family of Baltistan "The Maqpoons". He was born in a village in Skardu called Hussain Abad to Mr Kacho Amir Baig Maqpon, who had contributed a lot for the freedom of Baltistan from Dogra raaj during the 1940s. 2020 Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly Election
The 2020 Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly elections were held on 15 November 2020. Elections will be held in 24 constituencies, each electing one member to the 3rd Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly. 330 candidates will contest these elections, either representing one of the political parties of Gilgit-Baltistan (at the time of the 2020 elections) or being an independent candidate.
