Waunarlwydd RFC
Waunarlwydd Rugby Football Club are a Welsh rugby union club based in the village of Waunarlwydd, Swansea. Waunarlwydd are a member of the Welsh Rugby Union and are a feeder club for the Ospreys. Formed in 1900 the club celebrated its centenary with a tour to Prague in the Czech Republic. The club runs teams at all ages between Under 8 and Under 16, a youth section consisting of under 17's and under 19's, seniors, veterans and women's teams. Waunarlwydd currently plays in the WRU Division One West following promotion from WRU Division Two West in the 2009/2010 season. It is the club's second spell in Division One; they originally attained promotion following the 2004/2005 season before being relegated at the end of the 2007/2008 season. Waunarlwydd ( en, The Lord's Meadow – ''arlwydd'' is a local variant of ''arglwydd'') is a village and community in Swansea, Wales, within the newly formed Waunarlwydd ward in 2021. Wendy Lewis Labour is the first elected councillor for the newly created ward which she comfortably won in the 2022 local elections. In 2022 Waunarlwydd became a community. Transport Buses are provided by First Cymru: these are the 15 or 16 Swansea - Waunarlwydd and Swansea - Gorseinon. The main road in and out of the village is the B4295. The nearest motorway junction is 47 Swansea West (Penllergaer) on the M4. The original main road from Swansea was Waunarlwydd Road, which starts from Cockett Road (A4216) at the Cockett Inn pub and runs to the meeting point of Cwmbach Road and Swansea Road at the old Lamb & Flag pub. WRU Division Two West
The Welsh Rugby Union League 2 West (also called the SWALEC League 2 West for sponsorship reasons) is a rugby union league in Wales. Competition format and sponsorship Competition There are 12 clubs in the WRU League 2 West. During the course of a season (which lasts from September to May) each club plays the others twice, once at their home ground and once at that of their opponents for a total of 22 games for each club, with a total of 132 games in each season. Teams receive four points for a win and two point for a draw, an additional bonus point is awarded to either team if they score four tries or more in a single match. No points are awarded for a loss though the losing team can gain a bonus point for finishing the match within seven points of the winning team. Carmarthen Athletic Rugby Football Club is one of two Welsh rugby union clubs based in Carmarthen in West Wales. The other is Carmarthen Quins RFC. Seven Sisters RFC (Welsh:Clwb Rygbi Blaendulais) is a rugby union club representing the village of Seven Sisters, Wales, playing in the WRU Division 2 west central league. The club are members of the Welsh Rugby Union and is a feeder club for the Ospreys. History Seven Sisters RFC formed in 1897, in the industrialised South Wales coalfield. During The 1950s and 1960s, when touring teams came to play Seven Sisters they would often be given a tour of the colliery prior to playing a match. It was reputedly common practice that when they were lowered down the shaft, the winding man would deliberately allow the cage to drop like a stone before applying the brake at the last moment.
