2020 Waterford Senior Football Championship
The 2020 Waterford Senior Football Championship is the 133rd edition of the Waterford GAA, Waterford GAA's premier club Gaelic football tournament for senior graded clubs in County Waterford, Ireland. The tournament consists of 12 teams, with the winner going on to represent Waterford in the Munster Senior Club Football Championship. The championship starts with a stage and then progresses to a knock out stage. Due to the emergence of and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Gaelic games, it was decided that there would be no relegation from the S.F.C. this season. Rathgormack were the defending champions after they defeated Ballinacourty in the previous years final. However the defence of their title came undone at the penultimate stage when losing to Ballinacourty. This was St. Saviours' return to the senior grade after claiming the 2019 Waterford I.F.C. with a final victory over Mondeligo. Gaultier GAA Club is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located on the outskirts of Dunmore East (An Dún Mór Thoir in Irish) which is a popular tourist and fishing village in County Waterford, Ireland. St Saviour's GAA Club is a football and hurling club founded in 1980 in Ballybeg, Waterford, in the Republic of Ireland. Facilities The club's facilities include a clubhouse, dressing rooms, gym, and floodlit training area. The 2008 Waterford Senior Football Championship is the championship of the Waterford Senior Football Championship, the premier gaelic football competition in County Waterford, having commenced on 11 May 2008. There were 13 teams in the championship, structured into 2 groups of four teams and 1 group of 5 teams. From these groups, quarter finals, and semi-finals were played with a county final played in Fraher Field. Ballinacourty were the defending champions having beaten Ardmore in the 2007 final. Michael "Brick" Walsh (born 23 April 1983) is an Irish hurling, hurler and Gaelic footballer who plays for Waterford Championship club Stradbally GAA (Waterford), Stradbally. Gary Hurney
Gary Hurney (born 1980) is an Irish people, Irish dual player of hurling and Gaelic football who formerly played for the Waterford GAA, Waterford senior team in both codes. Hurney made his first appearance for the Waterford football team during the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship 1999, 1999 championship against cork and immediately became a regular member of the starting fifteen. He also spent three seasons with the Waterford senior hurling team. During his inter-county career Hurney has enjoyed little success. He was an All-Ireland runner-up in hurling on one occasion. He announced his retirement from inter-county football in December 2013, citing injuries and family commitments. Hurney plays his club hurling and football with Abbeyside–Ballinacourty GAA, Abbeyside–Ballinacourty.
