Waterford Junior Hurling Championship
Waterford Junior Hurling Championship is the third-tier hurling competition organized by the Waterford County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association. The competition is confined to clubs in Waterford in Ireland. The winners usually will play in the senior grade the following year for the Waterford Intermediate Hurling Championship. They will also represent Waterford GAA in the Munster Junior Club Hurling Championship. Qualification for subsequent competitions Munster Junior Club Hurling Championship The Waterford JHC winners qualify for the Munster Junior Club Hurling Championship. It is the only team from County Waterford to qualify for this competition. The Waterford JHC winners enter the Munster Junior Club Hurling Championship at the __ stage. Hurling
Hurling ( ga, iománaíocht, ') is an outdoor team game of ancient Gaelic Irish origin, played by men. One of Ireland's native Gaelic games, it shares a number of features with Gaelic football, such as the field and goals, the number of players and much terminology. The same game played by women is called camogie ('), which shares a common Gaelic root. The objective of the game is for players to use an ash wood stick called a hurley (in Irish a ', pronounced or ) to hit a small ball called a ' between the opponent's goalposts either over the crossbar for one point or under the crossbar into a net guarded by a goalkeeper for three points. Stradbally GAA (Waterford)
Stradbally GAA (Irish: ) is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in Stradbally, County Waterford, Ireland, with teams in both Gaelic Football and Hurling. Players include Waterford county hurling captain, Michael Walsh. Despite being so successful in the County Senior Football Championship, winning 19 times, Stradbally have never won the Munster Senior Club Championship, being losing finalists twice. Stradbally won 5 Waterford Senior championships in a row between 2001-2005. They won further titles in 2009, 2010, 2012, 2015 & 2017.Despite winning the 2017 Waterford Senior Football Championship, Stradbally did not represent Waterford in the 2017 Munster Senior Club Football Championship due to the county not completing its club championship in time- the county final occurring a week after the provincial final due to the hurling having been prioritised. Ferrybank GAA
Ferrybank GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) club based in Waterford City, Republic of Ireland. It is situated in the suburb of Ferrybank on the north bank of the River Suir. There have been Gaelic games played in Ferrybank since the first team known as the Davis's was formed in the early 1890s. The club, under its present guise, was formed in 1950, and celebrated its 50th anniversary in the year 2000. The club caters for boys and girls from the age of 5 years and upwards. At juvenile level, the club were U-14 and U-16 County Champions in hurling in 2007 and teams are fielded at all juvenile grades. Ballygunner GAA
Ballygunner GAA (nicknamed "The Gunners") is a Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) club located in the parish of St Mary's Ballygunner in Waterford City, Ireland. The are the current All-Ireland Senior Club Hurling Championship title holders. The club, which is exclusively concerned with hurling, is one of the most successful in Waterford. It has won 20 county titles and produced many great players for Waterford such as Paul Flynn, Fergal Hartley, Billy O'Sullivan and Pauric Mahony. Ballygunner has an intense rivalry with fellow city club Mount Sion and for many years in the 1990s and 2000s the two dominated the club scene. Since 1992, Ballygunner have won 17 county titles. Passage GAA is a Hurling Club with Club Grounds the East Waterford village of Passage East with Players representing the Club from nearby areas of Dunmore East, Cheekpoint, Woodstown, Faithlegg, Ballymacaw and environs. Passage came close a number of times to capturing the Senior Hurling County Title losing three Waterford Senior Hurling Finals during the 1990s. Lismore GAA
Lismore GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Lismore, County Waterford, Ireland. The club enters teams in both GAA codes each year, which includes two adult hurling teams and one adult Gaelic football team in the Waterford County Championships. The club has won county titles in both Hurling and football, but in recent history the club has been mainly concerned with the game of hurling. The club's Camogie teams have also enjoyed much success. Fenor GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the small east Waterford, Ireland village of Fenor. The club enters teams in both Gaelic football and hurling each year, both of which compete in their respective junior championships. Fenor's greatest achievement was winning the Waterford Senior Football Championship in 1932.
