Waterford IT GAA is the GAA club of the Waterford Institute of Technology, established in 1981. Its hurling team play in the Fitzgibbon Cup and Waterford Crystal Cup as well as Higher Education Leagues. Its football team play in the Sigerson Cup and McGrath Cup as well as Higher Education Leagues. It's camogie team competes in the Ashbourne Cup. The ladies Gaelic football team has competed in the O'Connor Cup. History In 1981, Waterford IT GAA consisted of one hurling team playing in Division 3. Today, it has sixteen teams competing in twenty-two competitions in the third level education sector. Teams from Waterford IT have won a total of 71 titles, including: Division 1 Hurling titles, Fitzgibbon Cup trophies, Fresher 1 and Fresher 2 All-Irelands. Waterford Institute Of Technology
The Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT; ga, Institiúid Teicneolaíochta Phort Láirge) was an institute of technology, located in Waterford, Ireland. The institute had six constituent schools and offered programmes in business, engineering, science, health sciences, as well as education & humanities. The institute opened in 1970 as a Regional Technical College and adopted its name on 7 May 1997. Along with the Institute of Technology, Carlow, the institute was dissolved on 1 May 2022 and was succeeded by the South East Technological University. Hurling ( ga, iománaíocht, ') is an outdoor team game of ancient Gaelic Irish origin, played by men. Henry Shefflin
Henry Shefflin (born 11 January 1979) is an Irish hurling manager and former player who is the current manager of the Galway senior hurling team. In his playing career he was nicknamed "King Henry" because of his directive style, dominance, competitive spirit and leadership on the field. A versatile forward who started out in the corner, Shefflin made his name in more commanding positions as a centre or full-forward. He is widely regarded to be one of the greatest players in the history of the sport, with many former players, commentators and fans rating him as the number one player of all time. Keith Rossiter (born 16 January 1984) is an Irish hurling, hurler and currently a selector with the Wexford senior hurling team. Eoin Reid
Eoin Reid (born 27 December 1984) is an Irish hurler who plays for Kilkenny Senior Championship club Ballyhale Shamrocks. He played for the Kilkenny senior hurling team for five years, during which time he usually lined out as a corner-forward. Reid began his hurling career at club level with Ballyhale Shamrocks. He broke onto the club's top adult team as a 16-year-old in 2002 and enjoyed his greatest successes as part of the club's All-Ireland Championship-winning teams in 2007, 2010 and 2015 2019 2020 Reid has also won six Leinster Championship medals and nine Kilkenny Championship medals. Stephen O'Keeffe (born 29 April 1991) is an Irish hurler who plays for Waterford Senior Championship club Ballygunner and formerly at inter-county level with the Waterford county hurling team. He usually lines out as a goalkeeper. Playing career De La Salle College O'Keeffe first came to prominence as a hurler with De La Salle College in Waterford.
