Clonroche
Clonroche () is a village in County Wexford, Ireland. It is located approximately west of Enniscorthy and approximately east of New Ross, on the N30 national primary route. History From the mid-17th century until the early 20th century, the village of Clonroche was located on the large estate owned by the Carew family of nearby Ballyboro (later renamed Castleboro). From the 18th century onwards, their seat was Castleboro House, and a notable head of this family was Robert Carew (1787–1856). Rev. James Bentley Gordon, who was Protestant rector of Killegney in 1798, wrote an account of the Irish Rebellion of 1798 and also wrote an account of the parishes of Killegney and Chapel that appeared in William Shaw Mason's ''Statistical Account or Parochial Survey of Ireland'', printed in 1814. Cloughbawn GAA
Cloughbawn GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the Clonroche, County Wexford, Ireland. The club is primarily concerned with the game of hurling. The club is most famous for its "three in a row" in 2016, making it to the senior hurling final, junior hurling final and intermediate A football, losing out in all three.Cloughbawn are renowned for their ability to reach county finals and get beaten having been beaten in the 2021 and 2022 intermediate football final. Waterford IT GAA is the GAA club of the Waterford Institute of Technology, established in 1981. Its hurling team play in the Fitzgibbon Cup and Waterford Crystal Cup as well as Higher Education Leagues. Its football team play in the Sigerson Cup and McGrath Cup as well as Higher Education Leagues. It's camogie team competes in the Ashbourne Cup. The ladies Gaelic football team has competed in the O'Connor Cup. History In 1981, Waterford IT GAA consisted of one hurling team playing in Division 3. Hurling ( ga, iománaíocht, ') is an outdoor team game of ancient Gaelic Irish origin, played by men. One of Ireland's native Gaelic games, it shares a number of features with Gaelic football, such as the field and goals, the number of players and much terminology. The same game played by women is called camogie ('), which shares a common Gaelic root. The objective of the game is for players to use an ash wood stick called a hurley (in Irish a ', pronounced or ) to hit a small ball called a ' between the opponent's goalposts either over the crossbar for one point or under the crossbar into a net guarded by a goalkeeper for three points. Fitzgibbon Cup
The Fitzgibbon Cup ( ga, Corn Mhic Giobúin) is the trophy for the premier hurling championship among higher education institutions (universities, colleges and institutes of technology) in Ireland. The Fitzgibbon Cup competition is administered by Comhairle Ard Oideachais Cumann Lúthchleas Gael (CLG), the GAA's Higher Education Council. Comhairle Ard Oideachais also oversees the Ryan Cup (tier 2 hurling championship), the Fergal Maher Cup (tier 3 hurling championship) and the Padraig MacDiarmada (tier 4 hurling championship). Wexford Intermediate Hurling Championship
The Wexford Intermediate Hurling Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as The Courtyard Ferns Intermediate Hurling Championship) is an annual hurling competition contested by mid-tier Wexford GAA clubs. The Wexford County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association has organised it since 1930. The title has been won at least once by 38 different clubs. Leinster Senior Hurling Championship
The Leinster GAA Hurling Senior Championship, known simply as the Leinster Championship, is an annual inter-county hurling competition organised by the Leinster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). It is the highest inter-county hurling competition in the province of Leinster, and has been contested every year since the 1888 championship. 2019 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship
The 2019 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship was the 132nd staging of the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, the Gaelic Athletic Association's premier inter-county hurling tournament, since its establishment in 1887. The draw for the 2019 fixtures took place on 11 October 2018. The championship began on 11 May 2019 and concluded on 18 August 2019. Limerick were the defending champions. Carlow returned to the Leinster Championship for the first time since 2016, replacing Offaly who were relegated in 2018.
