Washington F. Willcox
Washington Frederick Willcox (August 22, 1834 – March 8, 1909) was an American businessman and politician who served two terms as a U.S. Representative from Connecticut from 1889 to 1893. Biography Born in Killingworth, Connecticut, Willcox prepared for college at Madison Academy and Hopkins Grammar School. He graduated from Yale Law School in 1862. He was admitted to the bar and commenced practice in Deep River, Connecticut. Political career He served as member of the Connecticut House of Representatives in 1862 and 1863. From 1875 to 1876 he served in the Connecticut State Senate. He was State's attorney of Middlesex County from 1875 to 1883. Congress Willcox was elected as a Democrat to the Fifty-first and Fifty-second Congresses (March 4, 1889 – March 3, 1893). He was not a candidate for renomination in 1892. Connecticut
Connecticut () is the southernmost state in the New England region of the Northeastern United States. It is bordered by Rhode Island to the east, Massachusetts to the north, New York to the west, and Long Island Sound to the south. Its capital is Hartford and its most populous city is Bridgeport. Middlesex County, Connecticut
Middlesex County is a county in the south central part of the U.S. state of Connecticut. As of the 2020 census, the population was 164,245. The county was created in May 1785 from portions of Hartford County and New London County. Middlesex County is included in the Hartford-East Hartford- Middletown metropolitan statistical area known as Greater Hartford. As with all eight of Connecticut's counties, there is now no county government and no county seat. In Connecticut, towns are responsible for all local government activities, including local police, fire and rescue, snow removal, and schools. In a few cases, neighboring towns will share certain resources, e.g. water, gas, etc. Counties in Connecticut serve merely as dividing lines for the state's judicial system. Deep River is a town in Middlesex County, Connecticut. The town is part of the Lower Connecticut River Valley Planning Region. The population was 4,415 at the 2020 census. The town center is designated by the U.S. Census Bureau as a census-designated place (CDP).
