Wasa Theatre
Wasa theatre (Wasa Teater) is a professional Swedish-language theatre in the Finnish city of Vaasa. It is the regional theatre of Österbotten and was founded in 1919. History The current theatre building was completed in 1955 and was designed by architects Bertel Liljequist and Sam Salvesen. The old building, which was completely destroyed in 1953, was built in 1868 after drawings by Carl Axel Setterberg. The theatre was renovated in 1997-1998. Its large stage has seats for 272 people, studio for 80-120 people and Vasallen scene for 62 people. It has approximately 45,000 visitors and 6-7 premiers per year. Wasa theatre tries to have a versatile repertoire as possible to suit all ages, including classical and contemporary drama, musicals, family poems, children's and youth play. Vasateatern
Vasateatern or ''"Vasan"'' (English: ''Vasa Theatre'') is a private theatre in Stockholm, Sweden. It is located at Vasagatan 19–21 in central Stockholm. History The theater was designed by Fredrik Ekberg (1837- 1898) and inaugurated in 1886. It was for many years run by theatre director and actor Albert Ranft (1858–1938) who in the early 20th century staged a large number of French and British comedy plays. He had personal contact with many of the most popular European comedy playwrights at the time, including George Bernard Shaw, and successfully had a great number of contemporary comedy plays translated and staged in Sweden. Plays such as Oscar Wilde's ''The Importance of Being Earnest (Mr Ernst)'', Shaw's '' You Never Can Tell (Man kan aldrig veta)'' and ''Major Barbara'', and ''Jack Straw'' by W. Somerset Maugham. Vaasa Province
The Province of Vaasa ( ; , , Sweden ) was a province of Finland, established in 1775 when Finland was an integrated part of Sweden from the southern part of Ostrobothnia County and disbanded in 1996. The province was named after the city of Vaasa. On the death of Tsar Nicholas I in 1855, a small group of citizens in the city of Vaasa tendered a petition to change the name of the city after him. The name of the city came from the Royal House of Vasa and despite that only 15 citizens were backing the proposal the name of the city was changed to Nikolaistad (russian: Николайстада, fi, Nikolainkaupunki). In 1960 the eastern part was separated as the Province of Central Finland. Carl Axel Setterberg
Carl Axel Setterberg (1812-1871) was a Swedish-born Finnish architect. Setterberg provided much of the urban design for the city of Vaasa, Finland. Biography Setterberg was born at Nyköping Municipality, Bogsta parish in Södermanland, Sweden. He studied to become an architect at the Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm from 1834–1841. In May 1841, he got a job as building contractor in Gävleborg province, where he worked the following ten years. In this position he led many important building projects in Gävle and designed several public buildings. When he heard that the city of Vaasa in Finland had burned down to the ground in 1852, he became interested in the opportunities surrounding the rebuilding of the city. He travelled to Vaasa where the job as county architect was open, and in January 1853 he was temporarily appointed for the job after impressing the county governor Berndt Federley (1799–1863). The story centers on a mother who struggles with worsening bipolar disorder and the effects that managing her illness has on her family. Samuel Harjanne (born December 22, 1987) is a director originally from Finland. He is currently living in Denmark. Before his career as a director, he performed voice-dubbing roles in the Finnish language for foreign media, including major character roles, as well as in various musicals in the Finnish and Swedish speaking theatres in Finland.
