Warren Abery
Warren Abery (born 28 June 1973) is a South African professional golfer. He currently plays on the Sunshine Tour where he won seven times between 1998 and 2011. Abery was born in Durban, and currently resides in Ballito. He won the South African Amateur Tournament in 1995 and turned professional in 1997 the same year he joined the Sunshine Tour, where he found immediate success. He gained a place on the European Tour in 2006 and 2012 via qualifying school, but was unable to retain his card. Charl Adriaan Schwartzel ( ; born 31 August 1984) is a South African professional golfer who currently plays in the LIV Golf Invitational Series and has previously played on the PGA Tour, European Tour and the Sunshine Tour. He has won one major title, the Masters in 2011. Schwartzel's highest world ranking has been number six, after finishing in a tie for fourth at the WGC-Cadillac Championship in 2012. The 2011 Sunshine Tour is the 12th season of professional golf tournaments since the southern Africa based Sunshine Tour was relaunched in 2000, and the 5th since the tour switched a calendar based season in 2007. The Sunshine Tour represents the highest level of competition for male professional golfers in the region. The tour is based predominantly in South Africa with other events being held in neighbouring countries, including Zimbabwe, Swaziland, Zambia and Namibia. As usual, the tour consists of two distinct parts, commonly referred to as the "Summer Swing" and the "Winter Swing". Branden John Grace (born 20 May 1988) is a professional golfer from South Africa who currently plays for LIV Golf. He formerly played on the European Tour, the PGA Tour, and the Sunshine Tour. In 2012, he became the first player in the history of the European Tour to win his first four European Tour titles in the same year. On 22 July 2017, Grace became the first man to record a sub-63 score in a major when he shot a 62 (8-under-par) in the Open Championship at Royal Birkdale Golf Club. Oliver Bekker (born 11 December 1984) is a South African professional golfer. Professional career Bekker plays on the Sunshine Tour where he has won seven times. He won the 2011 Northern Cape Classic, the 2012 Dimension Data Pro-Am, the 2013 Telkom PGA Pro-Am and the 2016 Sun City Challenge. He won three times in 2017, the Zambia Sugar Open, the Lombard Insurance Classic, and the Sun Wild Coast Sun Challenge. In April 2021, Bekker lost in a four-man playoff at the Limpopo Championship. Adilson José da Silva (born 24 January 1972) is a Brazilian professional golfer. He currently plays on the European Senior Tour and the Sunshine Tour, where he has won twelve times. Career Da Silva was born in Santa Cruz do Sul, Brazil but later moved to KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. He turned professional in 1994. Da Silva competes predominantly on the Southern Africa-based Sunshine Tour. He won his first title on the tour in 1997 and has since added eight more tournament victories, and led the Vodacom Swing Challenge standings in 2006. He holds the record for most consecutive cuts made on the Sunshine Tour with 43. Da Silva has also played extensively in Zimbabwe, where he won the Amateur Championship in 1992. The Sun City Challenge is a golf tournament on the Sunshine Tour. It has been played annually since 2007. From 2007 to 2011 it was called the Nashua Golf Challenge and was held at the Gary Player Country Club, although from 2007 to 2009 the second round was played at Lost City Golf Course. The 2007 Sunshine Tour was the eighth season of professional golf tournaments since the southern Africa based Sunshine Tour was rebranded in 2000, and the marked the beginning of a new era as the tour switched to a calendar based season, having previously been seasonal. The Sunshine Tour represents the highest level of competition for male professional golfers in the region. Douglas Gordon McGuigan (born 7 August 1970) is a Scottish-South African professional golfer. He has won eight times on the Sunshine Tour between 2003 and 2017. McGuigan was born in Durban, and currently resides in Johannesburg. After winning three West Coast Tour events as an amateur, he turned professional in 1989.
