Ware Für Katalonien
''Ware für Katalonien '' (English-language title: ''Goods For Catalonia'') is an East German black-and-white film, directed by Richard Groschopp. It was released in 1959. Plot At 1959, the People's Police notices a strange occurrence: the local demand for optical instruments increases, while the orders from abroad sharply decrease. Several detectives launch an investigation, revealing that a West German criminal named Hasso Teschendorf has been forging documents and using them to illegally obtain the goods, which he sold to the Spanish Army and to customers in Barcelona. After a long hunt, the smuggler is arrested just before he manages to flee to West Berlin. Walter Jupé
Walter Jupé (6 April 1916 – 16 November 1985) was a German actor, screenwriter and dramaturg. Life After his acting training with Helene Lackner, Jupé made his debut 1943 on a stage in Oldenburg, played then in Weimar, before shifting to Maxim-Gorki-Theater in East-Berlin, where he acted until 1982. Aside from his stage activity, Jupé also started a film and television career at the DEFA and Television of the GDR (DFF) in the middle of the 1950s. Here he often played bad characters in historic flicks like in the telefilm ''The Heyde-Sawade Affair'' (1963). But in addition he also acted in cheerful subjects and contemporary flicks. Together with writer Friedrich Karl Kaul he wrote more than 40 episodes of the thriller-like '' Fernsehpitavale'' (television pitavals), where historic criminal cases were cleared. East German Films
This is a list, in year order, of the most notable films produced in the Soviet Occupation Zone of Germany and the socialist German Democratic Republic (GDR, East Germany) from 1945 until German Reunification in October 1990. The state owned East German film company DEFA produced about 800 feature films between 1946 and 1992. Besides DEFA, the state broadcaster DFF and the Deutsche Hochschule für Filmkunst (now the Filmuniversität Babelsberg) were the only other organizations in the GDR that produced feature films for cinematic release, although far fewer than DEFA. DEFA also produced about 750 animated movies and more than 2500 documentaries and short films. Brandenburg Gate
The Brandenburg Gate (german: Brandenburger Tor ) is an 18th-century neoclassical monument in Berlin, built on the orders of Prussian king Frederick William II after restoring the Orangist power by suppressing the Dutch popular unrest. One of the best-known landmarks of Germany, it was built on the site of a former city gate that marked the start of the road from Berlin to the town of Brandenburg an der Havel, which used to be the capital of the Margraviate of Brandenburg. The Art Prize of the German Democratic Republic (German: ''Kunstpreis der Deutschen Demokratischen Republik'') was an East German state award bestowed on individuals for contributions in various fields of art. History The Art Prize was annually awarded in recognition of "outstanding creative and interpretive achievements" in visual arts, applied arts, cinema, television, radio and entertainment. It could be conferred to individual recipients or in collective, to groups of no more than six people. The recipients were awarded a silver-coated metal medal, 20 millimeter in diameter, with the inscription ''Kunstpreis''. Beside it, a single grantee would also be entitled to a sum of 6,000 East German Marks, while a collective would get a sum as high as 20,000. The Art Prize was the country's highest honor for artists, and was outranked only by the National Prize of East Germany. Jena
Jena () is a German city and the second largest city in Thuringia. Together with the nearby cities of Erfurt and Weimar, it forms the central metropolitan area of Thuringia with approximately 500,000 inhabitants, while the city itself has a population of about 110,000.
