Kim McLane Wardlaw (born July 2, 1954) is an American lawyer and jurist serving as a U.S. circuit judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit since 1998. She is the first Hispanic American woman to be appointed to a federal appeals court. Wardlaw was considered as a possible candidate to be nominated by Barack Obama to the Supreme Court of the United States. Wardlaw Baronets
The Wardlaw Baronetcy, of Pitreavie in the County of Fife, is a title in the Baronetage of Nova Scotia. It was created on 5 March 1631 for Henry Wardlaw, Chamberlain to Anne of Denmark, consort of James VI, with remainder to heirs male whatsoever. He had acquired Pitreavie in 1606 and this was erected into a barony in 1627. As of 13 October 2008 the presumed twenty-first and the twenty-second Baronets have not successfully proven succession and are therefore not on the Official Roll of the Baronetage, with the baronetcy considered dormant since 1983. Joanna Wardlaw
Joanna Marguerite Wardlaw (born 4 November 1958) is a Scottish physician, radiologist, and academic specialising in neuroradiology and pathophysiology. John Wardlaw-Milne
Sir John Sydney Wardlaw-Milne (7 May 1879 – 11 July 1967) was a Scottish Conservative Party politician and a first-class cricketer. The son of a Scottish banker, Wardlaw-Milne spent the early part of his life in British India, where he became a prominent figure in Bombay civic society. It was in India that he played first-class cricket for Bombay and the Europeans cricket team. Following the First World War, he returned to the United Kingdom and was elected the Conservative Member of Parliament (MP) for Kidderminster in 1922, an office he would hold until his defeat in the 1945 general election. As an MP, he was a member of the Imperial Economic Committee and during the Second World War was a critic of Prime Minister Winston Churchill, notably attemping to intitate a vote of no confidence against him in June and July 1942. Walter Wardlaw
Walter Wardlaw (died ) was a 14th-century bishop of Glasgow in Scotland. Biography Wardlaw was the son of a Sir Henry Wardlaw of Torry, a middling knight of Fife. Before becoming bishop, Walter was a canon of Glasgow, a Master of Theology and archdeacon of Lothian. He was at the University of Paris, and a roll of the year 1349 has one "Master William de Wardlaw" in the English Nation. By this stage, he was already a canon of Glasgow, with a prebend in Glasgow and another in the diocese of St Andrews. Yet a petition of 1349 to the papacy has Walter requesting the church of "Dunenach" in the diocese of Aberdeen. By 1359, he is rector of Erol and archdeacon of Lothian. After the death on 27 January 1367 of William Rae, Bishop of Glasgow, Pope Urban V, who had previously reserved the see for his own appointment, advanced Walter as bishop. Henry Wardlaw
Henry Wardlaw (died 6 April 1440) was a Kingdom of Scotland, Scottish church leader, Bishop of St Andrews and founder of the University of St Andrews. Ancestors He was descended from an ancient Saxon family which came to Scotland with Edgar Atheling, and was hospitably received by Malcolm Canmore. His grandfather, Sir H. Wardlaw of Torryburn, Torry, Fifeshire, married a niece of Walter Stewart, 6th High Steward of Scotland, and had by her Andrew, his successor, and Walter Wardlaw (d. 1390), Bishop of Glasgow, who is said to have been made a cardinal by the antipope Clement VII in 1381. Sir Andrew married the daughter and heiress of James de Valoniis, and had Walter and Henry, the bishop. Iain Wardlaw
Iain Wardlaw (born 29 June 1985, Dewsbury, Yorkshire, England) is a retired English-born first-class cricketer who played international cricket for Scotland. A right-arm medium pacer and right-handed batsman, Wardlaw was contracted to Yorkshire County Cricket Club to the end of the 2012 season, and for whom he played four Twenty20 games, and one County Championship match in 2011. Wardlaw joined Yorkshire in 2011, having played for Cleckheaton C.C. in the Bradford League. Elizabeth, Lady Wardlaw
Elizabeth, Lady Wardlaw (1677–1727) was a Scottish poet and the reputed author of the ballad ''Hardyknute''. Biography Elizabeth was born on 15 April 1677, the second daughter of Sir Charles Halket, baronet, of Pitfirran, Fife, and his wife Janet, daughter of Sir Patrick Murray. In 1696 she married Sir Henry Wardlaw, 4th Baronet, of Pitreavie and together they had three daughters and a son. The ballad of ''Hardyknute'', published in 1719 as an old poem, was supposed to have been discovered by her in a vault at Dunfermline, but no manuscript was ever produced. In 1724 Allan Ramsay included the poem in ''The Ever Green'', his anthology of Scottish poetry. In the 1767 edition of Percy's '' Reliques'' the poem was ascribed to Lady Wardlaw.
