Iain Wardlaw
Iain Wardlaw (born 29 June 1985, Dewsbury, Yorkshire, England) is a retired English-born first-class cricketer who played international cricket for Scotland. A right-arm medium pacer and right-handed batsman, Wardlaw was contracted to Yorkshire County Cricket Club to the end of the 2012 season, and for whom he played four Twenty20 games, and one County Championship match in 2011. Wardlaw joined Yorkshire in 2011, having played for Cleckheaton C.C. in the Bradford League. He has played for the Yorkshire Second XI in the Second XI Championship, as well as appearing in his debut Twenty20 match for Yorkshire against Nottinghamshire in July 2011, when he took two wickets for 17 runs off 3.1 overs. Wardlaw has since played three more Twenty20 matches for Yorkshire, although has yet to take another wicket, but his overall economy rate is 5.82 per over. Dewsbury
Dewsbury is a minster and market town in the Metropolitan Borough of Kirklees in West Yorkshire, England. It lies on the River Calder and on an arm of the Calder and Hebble Navigation waterway. It is to the west of Wakefield, east of Huddersfield and south of Leeds. Historically a part of the West Riding of Yorkshire, after undergoing a period of major growth in the 19th century as a mill town, Dewsbury went through a period of decline. Second XI Championship
The Second XI Championship is a season-long cricket competition in England that is competed for by the reserve teams of those county cricket clubs that have first-class status. The competition started in 1959 and has been contested annually ever since. All the then 17 first-class counties contested the first two competitions in 1959 and 1960; the next season when all 17 entered was 1977, though the number of teams in any one year was never lower than 14 (in 1971). Gloucestershire and Somerset entered a combined team for two seasons, 1967 and 1968. Before 1959, many second XIs of the first-class counties contested the Minor Counties Cricket Championship, winning the championship 23 times. Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. Tim Bresnan
Timothy Thomas Bresnan (born 28 February 1985) is an English former first-class cricketer, who last played for Warwickshire County Cricket Club, Warwickshire. He was a fast-medium bowler who had ability with the bat. Bresnan won the NBC Denis Compton Award in 2002 and 2003. In June 2006 he was called up to the England One-Day International side, and in May 2009, he joined the Test cricket, Test side. He was selected for the 2010-11 Ashes series, 2010–11 Ashes series and played in the Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, MCG; he took six wickets including the final one which saw England retain the Ashes. Roses Match
The Roses Match refers to any game of cricket played between Yorkshire County Cricket Club and Lancashire County Cricket Club. Yorkshire's emblem is the white rose, while Lancashire's is the red rose. The associations go back to the Wars of the Roses in the 15th century. These matches have a long and proud history and are traditionally the hardest fought matches in the English first class game, with many dour draws recorded as both teams battled to avoid the ignominy of defeat.
