Warana, Queensland
Warana is a coastal suburb of Kawana Waters in the Sunshine Coast Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , Warana had a population of 3,688 people. Geography Warana is located within the Kawana Waters urban centre. The western boundary of Warana follows the Mooloolah River and the middle of Wyuna Canal. A coastal reserve, which extends southwards into Bokarina and Wurtulla, has been established along the foreshore preventing beachfront development. The area immediately west of the coastal reserve is residential. In the south-west of the suburb is an industrial estate, the Kawana Sewerage Treatment Plant and an undeveloped marsh area in the far south-west. History The name ''Warana'' was proposed by land developer Alfred Grant on 31 March 1960 during negotiations with the Queensland Government to develop the land, an arrangement which was agreed in July 1960. Kawana Waters State College (KWSC) is a Prep to Year Twelve (Kâ12) college in Kawana Waters between Mooloolaba and Caloundra on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia, approximately 100 km north of Brisbane. Geography Wurtulla is located within the Kawana Waters urban centre. Mooloolah River
The Mooloolah River is a river in South East Queensland, Australia. The river rises from the eastern slopes of the Blackall Range and flows east-northeast, similar to the Maroochy River to the north. The mouth of the river is at southern Mooloolaba. The catchment area covers 221 km2. Addlington Creek, a tributary of the Mooloolah River was dammed by the Ewen Maddock Dam in 1973. Mountain Creek is another tributary that rises on the Buderim mountain that divides the Mooloolah and Maroochy watersheds. The gastric-brooding frog is a recently extinct frog that was discovered in only three catchments, the Mary River, Mooloolah River and Stanley Rivers. Kawana Waters is an urban centre on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia, between Caloundra and Maroochydore along the Coral Sea coast. It was originally the estate development name and has passed into common usage, but it is not officially a town nor a locality. Bokarina is a coastal suburb in the Sunshine Coast Region, Queensland, Australia, located within the Kawana Waters urban centre. In the , Bokarina had a population of 1,351 people.
