Kawana Waters is an urban centre on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia, between Caloundra and Maroochydore along the Coral Sea coast. It was originally the estate development name and has passed into common usage, but it is not officially a town nor a locality. The official suburbs (listed below) are connected by the Nicklin Way arterial road. It is sometimes abbreviated to Kawana, which is a suburb of Rockhampton. Kawana Waters State College
Kawana Waters State College (KWSC) is a Prep to Year Twelve (K–12) college in Kawana Waters between Mooloolaba and Caloundra on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia, approximately 100 km north of Brisbane. The campus is next to Lake Kawana. The college is the result of a merger between the Grade 7 to Grade 12, Kawana Waters State High School, with the primary to Year Seven school, Bokarina State School in 2006. Wallum
Wallum, or wallum country, is an Australian ecosystem of coastal south-east Queensland, extending into north-eastern New South Wales. It is characterised by flora-rich shrubland and heathland on deep, nutrient-poor, acidic, sandy soils, and regular wildfire. Seasonal changes in the water table due to rainfall may create swamps. The name is derived from the Kabi word for the wallum banksia (''Banksia aemula''). Threats Wallum, as with other coastal ecosystems, is highly threatened by the pressure for coastal development. Threats include clearing of land for residential development and pine plantations, alterations to drainage from adjacent developments, nutrients from fertilizers, changes in fire frequency, pollution from mosquito control sprays, and the introduction of weeds. Currimundi Lake (Kathleen McArthur) Conservation Park
Currimundi Lake (Kathleen McArthur) Conservation Park is a protected area that is located in Wurtulla, north of Currimundi, approximately north of Caloundra, Queensland, Australia. The park is named after Kathleen McArthur, a local artist, conservationist and founding member of the Wildlife Preservation Society of Queensland in 1962. The park's total area is 50 hectares (124 acres). It was first declared as a conservation park in 1994. A large percentage of the park is wallum heath, which in turn then supports a large and diverse number of fauna; 353 species, 14 of which are introduced, 25 species are rare or threatened. A vast array of wildflowers may be seen in the park at any time of the year, but are most abundant in late winter to early spring. Nicklin Way (SR6) is a major road in Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia. It is named after former Queensland Premier Frank Nicklin, who opened the road on 5 June 1965.
