War Idaad
War Idaad, also known as Wandad, Waridad, or Waridud is a town in Aynabo District, in the Sool region of Somaliland. In 2008, the surrounding villages were combined and promoted to "War Idaad District", and several more surrounding districts were combined to form the new "Saraar Region" (Gobolka Saraar). In 2020, these became Aynabo District of the Sool Region. History In March 2008, Somaliland President Dahir Riyale Kahin announced the creation of 16 new districts in six regions, and War Idaad became part of the Saraar region. However, this was criticized as a popularity contest for election purposes. In September 2016, a delegation led by the President of Somaliland paid a visit to War Idaad. In November 2016, War Idaad district went into drought and Somaliland Minerals Minister Hussein Abdi Dualeh supplied food and water provided by Genel Energy to a total of 1600 households in War Idaad and Balli Caraale districts. Aynabo District
Aynabo District ( so, Degmada Caynaba), colloquially known as Sarar ( so, Saraar), is a district in the northern Sool region of Somaliland. Its capital lies at Aynabo. Other settlements in the district includes Wadaamagoo, War Idaad, Berkad Ali Hersi, Godheeli, Habariheshay, Ceeldhaab, Ceegaag, Oog, Badweyn, Gowsaweyne and Qoridheere. Oil exploration Northern section of the district is home to Block SL10B/13. In November 2019, Genel Energy presented its estimation of the block's potential. It concluded the existence of active petroleum system and several stacked oil reserves within the block adding up to 1.3 billion barrels of oil. Full field development will have daily output of 50,000 barrels of oil. In December 2021, Genel Energy signed a farm-out deal with OPIC Somaliland Corporation, backed by Taiwan’s CPC Corporation, on the SL10B/13 block. Aynaba is known for its watering wells and for its good and abundant fresh water. Wadaamagoo
Wadamago ( so, Wadaamagoo) is a historic town in Aynabo District, in the Sool region of Somaliland. Etymology The name Wadamago () stems from the phrase ''Wadaamo go, meaning ''wadaan breaker'' in Somali. A wadaan is a hand made bucket that is made up of animal skin and is a watertight round cylinder, with an open top that is attached to a semicircular carrying handle, which is also attached to a rope. Somali nomads grab the rope and drop the wadaan into a well to carry water. Overview Wadamago is situated in the Aynaba District in the western part of Sool region. Wadamago is approximately 18 km west of Aynaba, the administrative seat of the wider district. Other nearby towns include Qoorlugud (61 km), Buuhoodle (102 km) and Kirit (15 km). Diphtheria
Diphtheria is an infection caused by the bacterium '' Corynebacterium diphtheriae''. Most infections are asymptomatic or have a mild clinical course, but in some outbreaks more than 10% of those diagnosed with the disease may die. Signs and symptoms may vary from mild to severe and usually start two to five days after exposure. Symptoms often come on fairly gradually, beginning with a sore throat and fever. Sool, Somalia
Sool ( so, Sool, ar, صول) is an administrative region ('' gobol'') in south eastern Somaliland/north western Somalia. It borders Togdheer to the west, Sanaag to the north, Ethiopia to the south and Nugal, Bari to the east. Its capital city is Las Anod. The region is disputed by the self-declared Republic of Somaliland and Puntland, a Federal Member State of Somalia. The region is partially controlled by both polities. Hussein Abdi Dualeh
Hussein Abdi Dualeh ( so, Xuseen Cabdi Duaale) is a Somali politician and petroleum engineer. He is the former Minister of Energy & Minerals of Somaliland. Biography Dualeh was born in the Saraar region of Somaliland. At the age of five, he moved with his family to Aden in South Yemen. Upon returning he completed secondary education at SOS Sheikh Secondary School. After graduation he was hired by ADNOC selling lubricants and gasoline. In 1979 he started his engineering education at the University of Oklahoma and later worked for several American companies including Chevron Corporation and California's Metropolitan Transport Authority. Dahir Riyale Kahin ( so, Daahir Riyaale Kaahin, ar, ظاهر ريالي كاهن) (born 12 March 1952) is a Somaliland politician who was President of Somaliland from 2002 to 2010. He previously served as a senior officer in the National Security Service in Somalia, and he was Vice President of Somaliland from 1997 to 2002.
