Wanzhou Wuqiao Airport
Wanzhou Wuqiao Airport is an airport serving Wanzhou District of Chongqing, China. It is located from the centre of Wanzhou. The airport was opened on 29 May 2003. History Wanzhou was formerly served by the military Liangping Airport. Its runway was too short for civil use, but the plan to extend it was abandoned. Instead, the new Wuqiao Airport was built by cutting into mountains and filling bottomlands. It has a runway that is 2400 meters long and 45 meters wide (class 4C), capable of operating Airbus A320 and Boeing 737 airplanes. Wanzhou District
Wanzhou District () is Chongqing's second most populated urban core area on the upper reaches of the Three Gorges of the Yangtze River in China. It is currently governed as a district of Chongqing Municipality, bordering Sichuan to the northwest and Hubei to the southeast. It was formerly known as Wanxian or Wan County (). Prior to Chongqing's formation as a direct-controlled municipality, Wanzhou was part of Sichuan province. The urban core of Wanzhou is away from Chongqing's city proper. "Wanzhou" literally means "myriad-prefecture", where "a myriad rivers converge and a myriad traders gather" (). Due to the construction of the Three Gorges Dam, 47% of Wanzhou's old urban area was submerged and had to be relocated. Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport (formerly Shenzhen Huangtian Airport) is the airport serving Shenzhen, Guangdong Province. It is located on the east bank of the Pearl River near Huangtian and Fuyong villages in Bao'an District, and is northwest of the city centre. It is a hub for Shenzhen Airlines and Shenzhen Donghai Airlines and for cargo airline SF Airlines, and a focus city for China Southern Airlines and Hainan Airlines. Nanjing Lukou International Airport is the main airport serving Nanjing (the capital of Jiangsu Province) and a major airport serving the Yangtze River Delta area.
