Wangkhei Assembly Constituency
Wangkhei is one of the 60 Legislative Assembly constituencies of Manipur state in India. It is part of Imphal East district. Birth and extent of the constituency Wangkhei was created for the first legislative assembly election in Manipur, in 1967. As of the latest delimitation in 2007, it comprises Ward Nos. 21, 22, 23 and 26 in Imphal municipality. Elections to the Manipur Legislative Assembly were held in February 1990, to elect members of the 60 constituencies in Manipur, India. The Indian National Congress won the most seats as well as the popular vote, but Raj Kumar Ranbir Singh of the Manipur Peoples Party was appointed as the Chief Minister of Manipur. After the passing of the North-Eastern Areas (Reorganisation) Act, 1971, Manipur was converted from a Union Territory to a State and the size of its Legislative Assembly was increased from 30 to 60 members. "None of the above" (NOTA), or none for short, also known as "against all" or a "scratch" vote, is a ballot option in some jurisdictions or organizations, designed to allow the voter to indicate disapproval of the candidates in a voting system. Legislative Assembly elections were held in Manipur from 28 February to 5 March 2022 in two phases, to elect 60 members of the Manipur Legislative Assembly. The results declared on 10 March 2022. Okram Henry Singh
Okram Henry Singh is an Indian politician from Manipur and member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. He was elected as a member of the Manipur Legislative Assembly from Wangkhei constituency in Imphal East District from the Indian National Congress in 2017 Manipur Legislative Assembly election. In 2021, he was defeated by Thangjam Arunkumar Singh with a huge margin of votes. He is the nephew of former Chief Minister of Manipur Okram Ibobi Singh. During the 2020 Manipur vote of confidence, he was one of the eight MLAs who had skipped the assembly proceedings defying the party whip for the trust vote. He resigned from Indian National Congress and later joined Bharatiya Janata Party in presence of Ram Madhav, Baijayant Panda and Chief Minister of Manipur N.
