2000 Manipur Legislative Assembly Election ...
Elections to the Manipur Legislative Assembly were held in February 2000, to elect members of the 60 constituencies in Manipur, India. The Manipur State Congress Party won the most seats as well as the popular vote, and Wahengbam Nipamacha Singh was re-appointed as the Chief Minister of Manipur. After the passing of ''The Delimitation of Parliamentary and Assembly Constituencies Order, 1976'', the constituencies were set to the ones used in this election. Janata Dal (United) ("People’s Party (United)”) abbreviated as JD(U) is an Indian political party with political presence mainly in eastern and north-eastern India. JD(U) is recognised as a state party in the states of Bihar , Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur and is a part of government in Bihar. JD(U) heads the government in Bihar and has remained the second largest party in Manipur. JD(U) won 16 seats in the 2019 Indian general election, making it the seventh largest party in the Lok Sabha. National People's Party (India)
The National People's Party is a national-level political party in India, though its influence is mostly concentrated in the state of Meghalaya. The party was founded by P. A. Sangma after his expulsion from the NCP in July 2012. It was accorded national party status on 7 June 2019. It is the first political party from Northeastern India to have attained this status. Kuki National Assembly
The Kuki National Assembly (KNA) is a political party in the Indian state of Manipur. It was formed on 24 October 1946, by S. M. Zavun, to act as a pan-political organisation among the various Kuki people. It last won seats in the 1990 Manipur Legislative Assembly election, and after that slowly fizzled out.
