Wang Xiaodong (; born 3 January 1960) is a Chinese politician and current Deputy Party Committee Secretary and Governor of Hubei province. Originally from Jiangxi province, Wang spent his early career in his home province and in Guizhou. He was transferred to Hubei in 2011. Biography Wang was born in Xinfeng County, Jiangxi province. Wang joined the Communist Party of China in January 1983. He graduated from Jiangxi University with a degree in Marxist philosophy. He began his career in rural work in Jiangxi province, then worked as a party functionary in the General Office of the Jiangxi party committee, the Jiangxi social and education commission, the provincial policy research office, and the director of the Guizhou party general office. He became a member of the Guizhou party standing committee in December 2000 while party secretary of Guiyang, then in May 2007 became executive deputy governor of Guizhou. Wang Xiaodong (; born January 1962) is a Chinese politician, serving since 2015 as the Communist Party Secretary of Nanning, the capital of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Previously he served as party chief of Beihai. Biography Wang was born in 1962 in Lingqiu County, Shanxi. He graduated from the Shijiazhuang Army College in its political department; he holds a master's degree in engineering. He joined the Communist Party in 1980. He then served in a series of military roles in the Beijing Military Region and the Beijing Mobilization District. Then he was transferred to the All China Federation of Supply and Marketing Cooperatives, where he worked as a secretary and then as a supervision official. In March 2005, Wang became the deputy party chief of Qinzhou, Guangxi. In April 2007 he was named deputy head of the Guangxi Organization Department. Xiaodong Wang (biochemist)
Xiaodong Wang (, born 1963) is a Chinese biochemist best known for his work with cytochrome c. His laboratory developed an ''in vitro'' assay for the activation of the apoptosis related proteinase Caspase-3. This allowed the biochemical purification of a complex of Cytochrome c, Caspase-9 and the Apoptotic Protease Activating factor-1 (APAF1). These components are essential for forming a ternary complex called the apoptosome that activates Caspase-3 downstream of the intracellular or mitochondrial pathway of apoptosis. He was awarded the 2006 Shaw Prize in Life Science and Medicine. Wang is a member of United States National Academy of Sciences and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute.
