Walthamstow International Film Festival
Walthamstow International Film Festival (WIFF) is an annual film festival in Walthamstow, London, with a focus on short films by local and international filmmakers. The event was initially organized in 2010 to return the presence of film to the district for the E17 Art Trail event. Walthamstow was once home to the silent film studio Walthamstow Studios during the 1920s. Sponsors have included Time Out magazine and the British Film Institute. Established in 2010, the Walthamstow International Film Festival was co-founded by Paul (Fletch) Fletcher and Liza Fletcher, and has been held annually since. In 2018 co-founders Liza Fletcher and Paul Fletcher accepted the London Borough of Waltham Forest Arts and Culture Award that the Walthamstow (International) Short Film Festival won at the ''Love Your Borough Awards'' ceremony at Wathamstow Assembly. Pinny Grylls is a documentary filmmaker. In 2002 Grylls and Rachel Millward co-founded the Birds Eye View Film Festival. BEV showcased films by emerging women filmmakers from around the world and became the UK's first major film festival for female filmmakers. Grylls directed the 2007 multi award winning short documentary 'Peter and Ben'. It screened at London International Film Festival and IDFA where it was nominated for prestigious Silver Cub Award. Vestry House Museum
Vestry House Museum is a history museum in Walthamstow focusing on the heritage of the local area. The collection includes various artefacts dating from the Victorian era to the 20th century, including numerous archived documents and photographs. Vestry House was originally built as a workhouse and was later used as a police station and also as private housing (amongst the exhibits is a replica police cell demonstrating one of the building's previous uses). The building became a museum in 1931. David Jenkins is an American television writer, producer, and showrunner. He created the sitcoms ''Our Flag Means Death'' for HBO Max and '' People of Earth'' for TBS.
