Walter Wilson was an English footballer who played in the Football League for Everton. Early career Walter Wilson was an Everton reserve player. He was not retained for season 1889-1890. League debut Walter Wilson made his League Debut on 30 March 1889 at Anfield, Liverpool against Blackburn Rovers. It was Everton' last match of the 1888-1889 season. Wilson was left-back, replacing Alec Dick. The match was originally scheduled for 5 January 1889 but the referee would not allow the match to start as the pitch was covered in ice. Alec Dick (footballer)
Alexander Dick (1865 – 1925) was a Scottish footballer who played in the Football League for Everton. Background Dick was signed by a local club, Kilmarnock Athletic in 1884. He then moved south to England and signed for Liverpool club Stanley F.C. in 1885. He was discovered by Everton and signed by them in August 1886. Before the Football League era he played 81 times for Everton. He made his FA Cup debut against Bolton Wanderers in October 1887. Dick was the first Scottish professional signed by Everton; he was a combative full–back who looked like becoming the established right-back for the club during the inaugural Football League season, but was suspended for a large part of the campaign after striking an opponent at Notts County. Alf Milward
Alfred Milward (12 September 1870 – 1 June 1941) was a professional footballer who played in the 1893 and 1897 FA Cup Finals for Everton and in the 1900 FA Cup Final for Southampton. Early career Born in Great Marlow, Milward was one of the first Southerners to establish himself in the Football League. The son of a tradesman, he was educated at Sir William Borlase's Grammar School and played for the school's Old Boys team and for Marlow, before joining Everton in May 1888. A well-built, hard-working, determined and technically clever winger, he contested every ball, played at full stretch for the duration of the game and had a knack of delivering a cross-field pass to perfection from up to 40 yards, combined with his shooting power from wide positions. David Waugh (born 1866, date of death unknown) was an English professional footballer who played as an inside forward. He played for Padiham before joining nearby Burnley in 1886. He made his competitive debut on 15 October 1887 in the club's 2–0 win against Darwen Old Wanderers in the first round of the FA Cup. He scored in his only other cup appearance for Burnley in the 2–3 loss to Accrington in the next round of the competition. Joseph Davies (born 1870; date of death unknown) was a Welsh international footballer who played as an inside right. Career Early career Born in Chirk in Wales, Davies worked as a miner whilst playing for his hometown club of Chirk. Everton & league debut Joe Davies made his League Debut on 1 December 1888 at Anfield, Liverpool against West Bromwich Albion. Davies was at outside-right.
