Walter H. North
Walter H. North (January 31, 1933 – October 31, 2014) was a Republican Party (United States), Republican member of the Michigan Senate from 1995 through 2002. He was also an assistant to Michigan State Treasurer Allison Green, and comptroller and executive director of the Mackinac Bridge Authority. North was born in Missouri to Robert and Mary North on January 31, 1933. Raised in Battle Creek, Michigan, Battle Creek, North was a standout student and star basketball player in high school. He received a scholarship to Western Michigan University, but a hand injury prevented him from playing in college. After three years in the United States Air Force, Air Force, North returned to WMU and was awarded a business degree. He married Sally, his high school sweetheart, in 1953. Michigan's 37th Senate District
Michigan's 37th Senate district is one of 38 districts in the Michigan Senate. The 37th district was created with the adoption of the 1963 Michigan Constitution, as the previous 1908 state constitution only permitted 34 senatorial districts. It has been represented by Republican John Damoose since 2023, succeeding fellow Republican Wayne Schmidt. Michigan State Police
The Michigan State Police (MSP) is the state police agency for the U.S. state of Michigan. The MSP is a full-service law enforcement agency, with its sworn members having full police powers statewide. The department was founded in 1917 as a wartime constabulary (originally named the Michigan State Troops Permanent Force) and eventually evolved into the modern agency that it is today. Michigan Supreme Court
The Michigan Supreme Court is the highest court in the U.S. state of Michigan. It is Michigan's court of last resort and consists of seven justices. The Court is located in the Michigan Hall of Justice at 925 Ottawa Street in Lansing, the state capital. Operations Each year, the Court receives approximately 2,000 new case filings. In most cases, the litigants seek review of Michigan Court of Appeals decisions, but the Supreme Court also hears cases of attorney misconduct (through a bifurcated disciplinary system comprising an investigation and prosecution agency – the Attorney Grievance Commission – and a separate adjudicative agency – the Attorney Discipline Board), judicial misconduct (through the Judicial Tenure Commission), as well as a small number of matters over which the Court has original jurisdiction.
