Walsden Cricket Club
Walsden Cricket Club (; ) are an English cricket team currently playing in the Lancashire League; however, despite being in a Lancashire league, the village is actually situated in the county of West Yorkshire. Walsden field 1XI 2XI and 3XI senior teams as well as U18, U15 and U13 junior teams. The 2XI won their respective league beating Unsworth CC by 5 wickets on 28 August 2006 despite 3 matches to be played. In the same year Walsden won the aggregate trophy from the C.L.L. for the first time in the club's history. Walsden's 2nd Xi once again skippered by Paul Marrow went on to win the respective league title again in 2007 also reaching the Burton Cup Final. The 2007 season saw a unique double for the club and the Marrow family as younger brother of Paul, Chris Marrow, skippered Walsden's 3rd Xi to their respective title as well. Cricket
Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Means of dismissal include being bowled, when the ball hits the stumps and dislodges the bails, and by the fielding side either catching the ball after it is hit by the bat, but before it hits the ground, or hitting a wicket with the ball before a batter can cross the crease in front of the wicket. Lancashire League (cricket)
The Lancashire League is a competitive league of local cricket clubs drawn from the small to middle-sized mill towns, mainly but not exclusively, of East Lancashire. Its real importance is probably due to its history of employing professional players of international standing to play in the League. History The Lancashire Cricket League was formed on 16 March 1892, growing from the North East Cricket League that had been formed 17 months earlier. West Yorkshire
West Yorkshire is a metropolitan and ceremonial county in the Yorkshire and Humber Region of England. Unsworth CC
Unsworth Cricket Club are an English cricket team based in Unsworth, in the Metropolitan Borough of Bury, currently playing in the Central Lancashire League. Introduction The ground is situated at the end of Pole Lane which leads down from the centre of Unsworth Village. It is bordered by the M66 but there is no exit from this. This is the new ground of Unsworth CC built in 2002–2003 after the sale of the old pitch to a property developer. The new ground is much larger and it is possible to extend the boundaries to Test playing size. the club have already played host to two separate Lancashire 2nd XI games with another planned for this year. The low-rise pavilion hosts a function room with capacity for 120 and a members' bar. Calderdale
Calderdale is a metropolitan borough of West Yorkshire, England, whose population in 2020 was 211,439. It takes its name from the River Calder, and dale, a word for valley. The name Calderdale usually refers to the borough through which the upper river flows, while the actual landform is known as the Calder Valley. Several small valleys contain tributaries of the River Calder. Central Lancashire League
The Central Lancashire Cricket League (CLCL) was a fifteen team cricket league, traditionally based in Lancashire and the West Riding of Yorkshire. It was then based in Greater Manchester and West Yorkshire. The league ran competitions at First Team, Second Team, Third Team, Under 18, Under 15, Under 13 and Under 11 levels. The league was due to expand to a sixteen club format in 2005. Monton & Weaste were awarded the extra place ahead of Bamford Fieldhouse, Saddleworth, Elton, Walshaw, Didsbury and Bury. However, Stand left the league before the 2005 season and their replacement, Clifton did not join until 2006.
