Wally Hirsh
Walter Hirsh (born 24 March 1936), known as Wally Hirsh, is a New Zealand educator and former Race Relations Conciliator. Hirsh was born in Mönchengladbach, Germany on 24 March 1936, and his family fled Nazi persecution in 1938 to find a new life in Milton, New Zealand. He attended Tokomairiro District High School, Macandrew Intermediate School and Otago Boys' High School in Dunedin. Hirsch studied at Wellington Teachers' College and obtained a Trained Teacher's Certificate in 1958. He then studied at Victoria University, completing two degrees before embarking on a career in education and race relations. From 1959 to 1965, he worked as a teacher in the Wellington Region. From 1965 to 1969, he was a country teacher and school principal. In 1970, he lectured at Wellington Teachers' College. Human Rights Commission (New Zealand)
The Human Rights Commission (Māori: ''Te Kāhui Tika Tangata'') is the national human rights institution (NHRI) for New Zealand. It operates as an independent Crown entity, and is independent from direction by the Cabinet. Legislation and functions The commission was formed in 1977, and currently functions under the mandate of the Human Rights Act 1993. The Office of the Race Relations Conciliator was consolidated with the Human Rights Commission by an amendment to the Human Rights Act in 2001. The commission's primary functions are to "advocate and promote respect for, and an understanding and appreciation of, human rights in New Zealand society, and to encourage the maintenance and development of harmonious relations between individuals and among the diverse groups in New Zealand society". Mohawk People
The Mohawk people ( moh, Kanienʼkehá꞉ka) are the most easterly section of the Haudenosaunee, or Iroquois Confederacy. They are an Iroquoian-speaking Indigenous people of North America, with communities in southeastern Canada and northern New York State, primarily around Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence River. As one of the five original members of the Iroquois League, the Kanienʼkehá꞉ka are known as the Keepers of the Eastern Door – the traditional guardians of the Iroquois Confederation against invasions from the east. Order Of The British Empire
The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire is a British order of chivalry, rewarding contributions to the arts and sciences, work with charitable and welfare organisations, and public service outside the civil service. It was established on 4 June 1917 by King George V and comprises five classes across both civil and military divisions, the most senior two of which make the recipient either a knight if male or dame if female. There is also the related British Empire Medal, whose recipients are affiliated with, but not members of, the order. Recommendations for appointments to the Order of the British Empire were originally made on the nomination of the United Kingdom, the self-governing Dominions of the Empire (later Commonwealth) and the Viceroy of India. Kadima ( he, קדימה, lit=''Forward'') was a centrist and liberal political party in Israel.
