Waitawa Regional Park
Waitawa Regional Park is a regional park situated on the coast of Tamaki Strait, east of Auckland, New Zealand. It is located in Franklin in the Auckland Region, near Kawakawa Bay and Clevedon, about from central Auckland. The park was one of Auckland's first recreational parks, designed specifically for active recreational activities such as mountain biking, horse riding, kayaking and disc golf. One of the beaches is part of the Te Ara Moana Kayak Trail, while another will be a home base for marine education. The land was purchased in 2004 by the former Auckland Regional Council and has been managed as a regional park by Auckland Council since 2014. Franklin (local Board Area)
Franklin is a local government area in the southernmost part of New Zealand's Auckland Region, governed by the Franklin Local Board and Auckland Council. It currently aligns with the council's Franklin Ward. Pukekohe is the largest settlement of the area and the seat of the local board. The predecessor to Franklin was the Franklin District. Geography The area spans from the Hauraki Gulf in the east to the Manukau Harbour and Tasman Sea in the west. The forests of the Hunua Ranges and the southern and western shores of the Manukau Harbour provide a habitat for a range of wildlife, including birds. Auckland Council ( mi, Te Kaunihera o Tāmaki Makaurau) is the local government council for the Auckland Region in New Zealand. Kawakawa Bay
Kawakawa Bay is an east coast bay and settlement in the Franklin area of New Zealand's Auckland Region. It is located on the western side and northern end of the Firth of Thames, the southern side of the Hauraki Gulf, and north of the Hunua Ranges. The bay takes its name from Kawakawa trees which line the coastline. The beach is used for swimming, fishing and boating, and has views of Hauraki Gulf islands like Waiheke Island. Clevedon, New Zealand
Clevedon, previously known as Wairoa South, is a rural town in Auckland, New Zealand, located in the Franklin ward, one of the thirteen administrative divisions of Auckland city. The Auckland Regional Council (ARC) was the regional council (one of the former local government authorities) of the Auckland Region.
