Wait For The Night
''Wait for the Night'' is an EP released in 1983 by the heavy metal band Virgin Steele promoting the album '' Guardians of the Flame''. This EP was released in Europe by Music for Nations with a different cover, a different track listing and the name ''A Cry in the Night''. It is the last release of the band with guitarist Jack Starr. A compilation of songs from the EP and from ''Guardians of the Flame'' was published in Canada by Maze Music with the title ''Burn the Sun'', in 1984. The three original songs plus the interview from the European version were included as bonus material in the '' Guardians of the Flame'' CD remaster in 2002. Wait For Night
''Wait for Night'' is the fourth studio album by Australian singer-songwriter Rick Springfield, originally released by Chelsea Records in 1976. The album was reissued by RCA Records in 1982 (with an enclosed poster from his 1982 "Sweat For Success" tour and an alternate cover that added a handwritten note from Rick and colored paint strokes on the original cover's B&W photo), and that version managed to crack into the Billboard album charts. The album was reissued on CD in 2010 by Wounded Bird Records. Stylistically, the album represented a move away from Springfield's 1970s light rock sound to the trademark arena-ready power pop/pop rock sound that Springfield would later find success with throughout the 1980s. Heavy metal (or simply metal) is a genre of rock music that developed in the late 1960s and early 1970s, largely in the United Kingdom and United States. Music For Nations
Music For Nations (MFN) is a British independent record label focusing mainly on rock and metal. It was a subsidiary of the larger label distributor Zomba Records, which was a division of BMG and later Sony Music Entertainment. Launched in 1983 by Martin Hooker, Music For Nations established itself as a European leader in the rock and metal world, with early signings like Tank, Exciter, Metallica (who had three gold albums while on MFN), Slayer and Megadeth paving the way. As MFN grew, the company expanded its operation to include not just licensed acts from the United States, but its own signings. It released albums by artists including Paradise Lost, Opeth, Anathema, Cradle of Filth, Testament and countless other metal bands. Noble Savage (album)
''Noble Savage'' is the third studio album of the American heavy metal band Virgin Steele, released in 1985 by Cobra Records. The album was reissued in 1997 on CD by Noise Records with six bonus tracks. The remastered edition of 2008 by Dockyard 1 added two other extra tracks. In May 2011, the album was reissued once more by Steamhammer Records, a subsidiary of SPV with the same track list as the 1997 release, but with an added bonus CD containing 13 additional tracks. Before the recording of ''Noble Savage'', original guitarist Jack Starr resigned from the band and was replaced by Edward Pursino, an old friend of DeFeis, whose guitar playing immediately fit very well with Virgin Steele's music and style. Pursino's contribution came also in the form of new musical ideas and compositions, and he is still a mainstay in Virgin Steele's line-up. Jack Starr (born 1951) is an American heavy metal and blues guitarist and songwriter, born of a French mother and American father. Biography He learned to play guitar by ear, copying the riffs of R&B records. His first semi-professional band was Les Variations in France with future members of Trust. In the U.S. Starr emerged on the rock and metal scene in 1981, forming, together with Joey Ayvazian, David DeFeis and Joe O’Rielly, the first incarnation of the heavy metal band Virgin Steele. The new band was selected in 1982 by Mike Varney of Shrapnel Records to appear on the label's compilation album ''U.S. Metal Volume 2''. The song Starr sent in for the compilation was "Children of the Storm".
