Wabuska is an unincorporated community in Lyon County, Nevada, United States. The zip code is 89447, which it shares with nearby Yerington. Wabuska (Washo language, ''White Grass'') was established in the early 1870s. A post office was opened on September 18, 1874. In 1881, the town served as the principal Mason Valley supply center on the newly constructed Carson and Colorado Railroad of a line that went from Hazen to Mina. When copper was discovered in Mason Valley, the town became the northern terminus of the new Nevada Copper Belt Railroad, built 1909–1911. Wabuska waned with declining mining activity in the 1920s. Several buildings from Wabuska, most notably the Wabuska Railroad Station, were relocated to Carson City and incorporated as the Nevada State Railroad Museum. Mina is a census-designated place in Mineral County in west-central Nevada, United States. It is located along U.S. Route 95 (38° 23' 25" N 118° 06' 30" W) at an elevation of . The 2010 population was 155. History Mina was founded as a railroad town in 1905 and was named for Ferminia Sarras, a large landowner and famed prospector known as the 'Copper Queen.' The Carson and Colorado Railway, a division of Southern Pacific Railroad, had a station in the town. Köppen Climate Classification
The Köppen climate classification is one of the most widely used climate classification systems. It was first published by German-Russian climatologist Wladimir Köppen (1846–1940) in 1884, with several later modifications by Köppen, notably in 1918 and 1936. Later, the climatologist Rudolf Geiger (1894–1981) introduced some changes to the classification system, which is thus sometimes called the Köppen–Geiger climate classification system. Nevada State Railroad Museum
The Nevada State Railroad Museum, located in Carson City, Nevada, preserves the railroad heritage of Nevada, including locomotives and cars of the famous Virginia and Truckee Railroad. Much of the museum equipment was obtained from various Hollywood studios, where they were used in movies and television. The museum is operated by the Nevada Department of Tourism and Cultural Affairs. Opened in 1980, it was originally named the Virginia & Truckee Railroad Museum, often shortened to V&T Railroad Museum, but was renamed the Nevada State Railroad Museum in 1985. Carson City is an independent city and the capital of the U.S. state of Nevada. As of the 2020 census, the population was 58,639, making it the sixth largest city in Nevada. The Wabuska Railroad Station, on S. Carson St. in Carson City, Nevada, was built in 1906. It was a work of the Southern Pacific Co. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. Hazen, Nevada
Hazen is an unincorporated community in Churchill County, Nevada, United States. The community is approximately southeast of Fernley and northwest of Fallon, on U.S. Route 50 Alternate. History Hazen was founded in 1903 as a station on the Southern Pacific Railroad. Some sources say the town was first settled in 1869, but it doesn't appear on maps until 1903. The community was named for William Babcock Hazen, an aide to William Tecumseh Sherman. At one time Hazen had a post office, which was established in 1904. Hazen's early economy was driven by railroad workers and canal and dam builders, who patronized the town's saloons and brothels. Hazen is noted for the being the historic site of the last lynching in Nevada.
