WWRK is a classic rock radio station located in Florence, South Carolina, United States. The station is licensed by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to the town of Cheraw, South Carolina, and broadcasts on 103.3 FM with an effective radiated power (ERP) of 50 kW. Its studios are located in Florence, and its transmitter is located west of Society Hill, South Carolina. WJMX-FM is owned by iHeartMedia. History 103.1 signed on July 17, 1979 as WPDZ in Cheraw as the area's first FM Top 40 (CHR) station, "Z103". Urban Contemporary
Urban contemporary music, also known as urban music, hip hop, urban pop, or just simply urban, is a music radio format. The term was coined by New York radio DJ Frankie Crocker in the early to mid-1970s as a synonym for Black music. Urban contemporary radio stations feature a playlist made up entirely of Black genres such as R&B, pop-rap, quiet storm, urban adult contemporary, hip hop, Latin music such as Latin pop, Chicano R&B and Chicano rap, and Caribbean music such as reggae and soca.
