WXXV-TV (channel 25) is a television station licensed to Gulfport, Mississippi, United States, serving the Mississippi Gulf Coast as an affiliate of Fox, MyNetworkTV, NBC and The CW Plus. The station is owned by Morris Multimedia, and maintains studios on US 49 in Lyman (with a Gulfport postal address); its transmitter is located on Wire Road East, in unincorporated Stone County, northeast of McHenry. History The station signed on February 14, 1987, as the market's second commercial outlet (after ABC affiliate WLOX). It was originally locally owned by Gulf Coast Television Ltd. Airing an analog signal on UHF channel 25, WXXV immediately joined Fox as Mississippi's first Fox affiliate. "EXXV-TV" was the MyNetworkTV cable-only television station for the Mississippi Gulf Coast. It was controlled by Fox affiliate WXXV-TV (owned by Morris Multimedia) and was operated out of its studios on U.S. 49 in Lyman (with a Gulfport postal address). The station was only seen on the digital tier of Cable ONE systems on channel 476. Biloxi ( ; ) is a city in and one of two county seats of Harrison County, Mississippi, United States (the other being the adjacent city of Gulfport). The 2010 United States Census recorded the population as 44,054 and in 2019 the estimated population was 46,212. The area's first European settlers were French colonists. Gulfport is the second-largest city in Mississippi after the state capital, Jackson. WLOX
WLOX (channel 13) is a television station licensed to Biloxi, Mississippi, United States, serving the Mississippi Gulf Coast as an affiliate of ABC and CBS. Owned by Gray Television, the station maintains studios on DeBuys Road in Biloxi, and its transmitter is located in unincorporated southern Stone County near McHenry. History WLOX was the first television station on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, having begun operations September 15, 1962. It was owned by the Love family and their WLOX Broadcasting Company along with WLOX radio (AM 1490, now WANG). The station immediately aligned with ABC, an unusual move at the time for what, then as now, was a very small market. ABC was not nearly on par with CBS and NBC in terms of size and ratings until the 1970s.
