WWUH
WWUH is a non-commercial radio station licensed to the University of Hartford in West Hartford, Connecticut, United States. The station was started on July 15, 1968 and has a Public Alternative Radio format. WWUH operates on 91.3 MHz from a tower site in Avon, Connecticut, but their programming is also rebroadcast on WDJW (89.7 FM) in Somers, Connecticut. In addition, WWUH was the first station in the state of Connecticut to webcast on a regular basis via its website. WWUH has an extensive music library consisting of close to 140,000 LPs and CDs. The University of Hartford (UHart) is a private university in West Hartford, Connecticut. Its main campus extends into neighboring Hartford and Bloomfield. The university attracts students from 48 states and 43 countries. WDJW is the call sign of the FM radio station licensed to the Somers, Connecticut Board of Education. One of only a handful of high school radio stations in the state, WDJW has served the school and the community for over 35 years. Originally operating on 105.3 MHz, WDJW moved to 89.7 in the early 1990s and has had an eclectic format consisting of student and faculty programs supplemented with the programming of WWUH from the University of Hartford. History WDJW was founded in 1979 by Somers High School sophomore Robert Child. Child approached the Somers Board of Education in early 1979 to request funding and approval and was granted sufficient funds to purchase and install the requisite equipment. West Hartford, Connecticut
West Hartford is a town in Hartford County, Connecticut, United States, west of downtown Hartford. The population was 64,083 at the 2020 census. The town's popular downtown area is colloquially known as "West Hartford Center," or simply "The Center," and is centered on Farmington Avenue and South/North Main Street. Connecticut
Connecticut () is the southernmost state in the New England region of the Northeastern United States. Mike Crispino is an American sportscaster. Crispino is the lead play by play announcer for UCONN Men's Basketball team on iHeart Radio ESPN 97.9, as well as UCONN Football and Baseball. Crispino was also a play by play announcer for MSG Network for almost 20 years mainly covering New York Knicks basketball before moving on in 2017. Crispino began his career in 1984 at WRCH Radio and WVIT-TV in Hartford. From 1988 to 1992, Crispino was the sports director of WLVI-TV in Boston. There he called Boston Celtics games during the 1989–1990 season and New England Patriots pre-season games in 1992.
