The station was assigned the WTSA call letters by the Federal Communications Commission on August 1, 1986. WTSA signed on April 19, 1950, as a sister station to WKBR in Manchester, New Hampshire. Brattleboro (), originally Brattleborough, is a town in Windham County, Vermont, United States. Middle of the road (also known by its acronym MOR) is a commercial radio format and popular music genre. Music associated with this term is strongly melodic and uses techniques of vocal harmony and light orchestral arrangements. The format was eventually rebranded as soft adult contemporary.
