Sapporo
( ain, サッ・ポロ・ペッ, Satporopet, lit=Dry, Great River) is a city in Japan. It is the largest city north of Tokyo and the largest city on Hokkaido, the northernmost main island of the country. It ranks as the fifth most populous city in Japan. It is the capital city of Hokkaido Prefecture and Ishikari Subprefecture. Sapporo lies in the southwest of Hokkaido, within the alluvial fan of the Toyohira River, which is a tributary stream of the Ishikari. Yayuk Basuki
Yayuk Basuki (born 30 November 1970) is an Indonesian former professional tennis player who is now a politician. She is the highest-ever ranked tennis player from Indonesia, having reached No. 19 in singles in the WTA rankings in October 1997. She retired from playing singles in 2000, but remained an active doubles player on the circuit until 2013. She sat in the Indonesian House of Representatives between 2014 and 2019. In January 2018, she was elected Chair of the Indonesian Olympian Association (IOA) for a four-year term. She unsuccessfully ran for re-election in 2019. Naoko Kijimuta (Japanese: 雉子牟田 直子 ''Kijimuta Naoko'', born March 26, 1972) is a retired tennis player and winner of five professional doubles tournaments. She has been a representative of Japan in the Federation Cup. Career In the 1990s with her sister Akiko, she ranked among the top tennis players in Japan, alongside such players as Kimiko Date and Naoko Sawamatsu. From 1995 to 1997, she figured in the world top 100 in singles, taking a highest ranking in March 1997 - No. 44 (the season ended 1996 as the world's 50th best player). Nana Smith (born Nana Miyagi; 10 April 1971) is an American-born tennis player who played for Japan. Career Miyagi, a former top-15 player in doubles, played at all the Grand Slam tournaments in both singles and doubles – the Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon and the US Open. She scored her first top-10 win in singles in 1994, over then-world No. 8, Lindsay Davenport, and also scored wins over many top-20 ranked players, including Martina Hingis. Irina Spîrlea (born 26 March 1974) is a retired tennis player from Romania who turned professional in 1990. She won four singles and six doubles titles. Spîrlea reached her career-high ranking on the WTA Tour on 13 October 1997, when she became No. 7 in the world. She retired in 2000. Linda Harvey Wild (born February 11, 1971) is a retired tennis player from the United States. Born as Linda Harvey, she later used the family name of her stepfather and coach Steve Wild. Wild turned professional in 1989. In the first round of her first tournament in February 1990 in her hometown of Chicago, she defeated then fifth-ranked Arantxa Sánchez Vicario. The 1993 WTA Tour, also known by its sponsored name Kraft General Foods World Tour, was the elite tour for professional women's tennis organised by the Women's Tennis Association (WTA).
