WMWA
WMWA (96.5 FM) is an American radio station broadcasting a christian music radio format. Licensed to Malone, New York, United States, the station is currently owned by the Educational Media Foundation. On June 28, 2021, Martz Communications Group announced that it was selling 94.7 WYUL Chateaugay and WVNV (which was broadcasting a country music format under the branding ''Wild Country 96-5'') to the Educational Media Foundation (EMF), which runs K-Love and Air1, two Christian radio music formats. That would give EMF its first entry into the Greater Montreal, Canada's second-largest radio market, albeit on an American radio signal. The two stations also are heard in a section of Eastern Ontario, including the city of Cornwall. The sale, at a price of $2.5 million, was consummated on September 30, 2021. WQLR (94.7 FM) is a non-commercial religious FM radio station licensed to Chateaugay, New York owned by the Educational Media Foundation airing the EMF's K-Love Contemporary Christian format. The station is a border blaster, predominantly serving Greater Montreal and the Seaway River Valley, including Cornwall, Ontario and Massena, New York. WQLR has an effective radiated power (ERP) of 11,000 watts. Its transmitter is on Old Hill Road in Ellenburg, New York, approximately southwest of Montreal. Its city-grade signal reaches the southwestern portion of Greater Montreal, while its C2 class signal covers most of Montreal proper. In the eastern part of Montreal, the signal receives strong interference from co-channel CHEY-FM, Rouge FM's signal based in Trois-Rivières. Martz Communications Group is an American radio broadcasting company, which operates three radio stations in the St. Lawrence River area of New York and one in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The company, which also operates under the names Radio Power and Cartier Communications, is co-based in Parishville, New York and San Francisco, California; with auxiliary offices in Reno, Nevada; Burlington, Vermont; and Pointe-Claire, Quebec. The company was founded in 1986 by Tim Martz, a native of Kitchener, Ontario who established a radio station in Presque Isle, Maine, taking advantage of the market across the border in New Brunswick, Canada without being required to submit to the rules of the CRTC. Malone (village), New York
Malone is a village in, and the county seat of, Franklin County, New York, United States. Its population was 5,911 at the 2010 census. The village is in the town of Malone. It is home to a campus of North Country Community College. History The community was first settled around 1802. During the War of 1812, the village was sacked by British troops making incursions from what would become Canada. Malone was incorporated as a village in 1853. Chateaugay (town), New York
Chateaugay is a town in Franklin County, New York, United States. As of the 2010 census, the town population was 2,155. The name is derived from a location in France, which was applied to a local land grant. Within the town is a village also named Chateaugay. The town is located in the northeastern corner of the county. History The first settlement took place in 1796. The town was formed in 1799 before Franklin County was established, from parts of the towns of Champlain and Plattsburgh. By 1802, Chateaugay comprised most of Franklin County. Subsequently, its territory was reduced to form other towns. The town of Malone was set off from Chateaugay in 1805. When Franklin County was established from Clinton County, part of Chateaugay remained in Clinton County. The town of St. Armand was taken off in 1822 and placed in Essex County.
