WQLR (FM)
WQLR (94.7 FM) is a non-commercial religious FM radio station licensed to Chateaugay, New York owned by the Educational Media Foundation airing the EMF's K-Love Contemporary Christian format. The station is a border blaster, predominantly serving Greater Montreal and the Seaway River Valley, including Cornwall, Ontario and Massena, New York. WQLR has an effective radiated power (ERP) of 11,000 watts. Its transmitter is on Old Hill Road in Ellenburg, New York, approximately southwest of Montreal. Its city-grade signal reaches the southwestern portion of Greater Montreal, while its C2 class signal covers most of Montreal proper. In the eastern part of Montreal, the signal receives strong interference from co-channel CHEY-FM, Rouge FM's signal based in Trois-Rivières. Chateaugay (town), New York
Chateaugay is a town in Franklin County, New York, United States. As of the 2010 census, the town population was 2,155. The name is derived from a location in France, which was applied to a local land grant. Within the town is a village also named Chateaugay. The town is located in the northeastern corner of the county. History The first settlement took place in 1796. The town was formed in 1799 before Franklin County was established, from parts of the towns of Champlain and Plattsburgh. By 1802, Chateaugay comprised most of Franklin County. Subsequently, its territory was reduced to form other towns. The town of Malone was set off from Chateaugay in 1805. When Franklin County was established from Clinton County, part of Chateaugay remained in Clinton County. The town of St. Armand was taken off in 1822 and placed in Essex County. Effective radiated power (ERP), synonymous with equivalent radiated power, is an IEEE standardized definition of directional radio frequency (RF) power, such as that emitted by a radio transmitter. It is the total power in watts that would have to be radiated by a half-wave dipole antenna to give the same radiation intensity (signal strength or power flux density in watts per square meter) as the actual source antenna at a distant receiver located in the direction of the antenna's strongest beam (main lobe). ERP measures the combination of the power emitted by the transmitter and the ability of the antenna to direct that power in a given direction. CKGM ('' TSN 690 Montreal'') is an English-language AM radio station in Montreal, Quebec, owned by Bell Media Radio. Formerly an affiliate of sports radio network " The Team," it was one of three stations to retain the sports format after the network folded in 2002 until it switched to the TSN Radio branding in October 2011. CKGM has been an all-sports station since May 2001. Its studios and offices are located on René Lévesque Boulevard East in Downtown Montreal. On September 4, 2012, CKGM officially began broadcasting on 690 kHz, as a non-directional clear-channel Class A station. It runs the maximum power permitted for Canadian AM stations, 50,000 watts. Martz Communications Group is an American radio broadcasting company, which operates three radio stations in the St. Lawrence River area of New York and one in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Rouge FM
Rouge FM is a network of French-language adult contemporary radio stations broadcasting throughout Quebec, Canada. Established in 1990 as RockDétente, they are owned by Bell Media. All "Rouge FM" stations broadcast in the same markets as Bell's mainstream rock network, Énergie, although Énergie also has a few stations in markets not served by "Rouge FM". Although the stations concentrate on French adult contemporary music, it would mix in English music as well, much like Cogeco's " Rythme FM" network, which has fewer stations than "Rouge FM". CHEY-FM is a French-language radio station located in Trois-Rivières, Quebec, Canada. Owned and operated by Bell Media, it broadcasts on 94.7 MHz using a directional antenna with an average effective radiated power of 20,600 watts and a peak effective radiated power of 100,000 watts ( class C1). The station has an adult contemporary format since its inception, in 1990 and is part of the "Rouge FM" network which operates across Quebec and Eastern Ontario. It started operations in 1990 as a sister station to CHLN radio; that station is now owned by Cogeco.
