WHSL (107.7 FM, "Hot 107.7") is a radio station licensed to Lisman, Alabama, and serving the Butler radio market. Owned by Augustus Foundation, Inc., WHSL has a transmitter at its studios on Pushmataha Road in Butler. When on the air, WHSL broadcasts an urban adult contemporary music format to the greater Meridian, Mississippi area. It is the only locally programmed radio station in the area. History K. God's Country Radio Network
God's Country Radio Network was a Religious broadcasting radio network in the United States which launched in 2008. The majority of stations that the network aired on were owned by the non-profit organization Educational Media Foundation, though it also aired on some independent stations. God's Country Radio Network played a blend of Southern Gospel and Positive Country music. In November 2010, God's Country Radio Network left the air because it "didn't connect with enough listeners to sustain the expenses of the broadcast". It relaunched in January 2011 as a web-based only broadcaster, which has since shut down also. Lisman, Alabama
Lisman is a town in Choctaw County, Alabama, United States. At the 2020 census, the population was 427. Lisman was named after a 19th-century railroad investor at the time of construction of the nearby rail line. Geography Lisman is located in northern Choctaw County at 32°10'19.978" North, 88°17'21.667" West (32.172216, -88.289352). According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the town has a total area of , all land. History In 1962, local residents participated in "a federal lawsuit challenging the white Choctaw County registrars who were rejecting 95 percent of black voters’ applications." Martin Luther King visited the town to lead a rally for voting rights on April 30, 1966. The town incorporated in 1979, which enabled it to pave its dirt roads, and build sewers. Boyd Tyrone Herndon (born May 2, 1962), known professionally as Ty Herndon, is an American country music singer and songwriter. His music career began in the 1980s as a member of the Tennessee River Boys, a predecessor to the country band Diamond Rio.
