WGVX, WLUP and WWWM-FM are three separate radio stations that make up a trimulcast serving the Minneapolis-St. Paul radio market. The three stations are owned by Cumulus Media, along with sister stations KQRS-FM and KXXR. The three stations broadcast a soft adult contemporary radio format, with the moniker "Love 105." KXXR
KXXR (93.7 FM) is an active rock/mainstream rock radio station broadcasting to the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area. It is owned by Cumulus Media, which also owns KQRS-FM. Its transmitter is located in Shoreview, Minnesota. Its studios are in Northeast Minneapolis in the Como district. History Through much of its early history, the station was known as WAYL, airing a beautiful music format. When the format fell out of favor nationwide during the 1980s, the frequency enjoyed success with several rock music formats. KQRS-FM
KQRS-FM (92.5 FM, KQ92 or 92 KQRS) is a Classic Rock radio station in the Twin Cities region of Minnesota. The station is licensed to suburban Golden Valley, transmits from the KMSP-TV tower in Shoreview, and is owned by Cumulus Media, with studios in Southeast Minneapolis in the Como district. History The original call letters were KEVE-FM and the station was co-owned with sister AM station KEVE. KEVE's AM history predates the FM by 14 years; it launched in May 1948, and was owned by Family Broadcasting until mid- 1956 and was known until at least then as KEYD, co-owned with KEYD-TV (now KMSP-TV and launched by Family Broadcasting in January 1955). IDS Center
The IDS Center is an office skyscraper located at 80 South 8th Street in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Completed in 1972, it is the tallest building in Minneapolis, and the tallest building in the state at a height of . It originally stood , though a garage for window washing equipment was added between 1978 and 1979. The structure rises to when including communications spires on the roof, indisputably the highest points in the city. The IDS was constructed as the headquarters of Investors Diversified Services, Inc.—now Ameriprise Financial. In broadcasting, a trimulcast is a cluster of three radio stations and/or translators that play the same feed. Normally this is done in order to have full coverage of a certain area. Some stations use this technique to provide rimshot coverage into a major market by broadcasting on the outskirts from three different locations, or combine multiple low power television stations in an attempt to provide the equivalent coverage of one full-power station. WQQO (105.5 FM) is a commercial radio station licensed to Sylvania, Ohio, carrying a contemporary hit format known as "Q105". Owned by Cumulus Media, the station serves the Toledo metropolitan area and much of surrounding Northwest Ohio. WQQO's studios and transmitter both reside in Toledo's Scott Park neighborhood.
