WDWO-CD
WDWO-CD (channel 18) is a low-power, Class A television station in Detroit, Michigan, United States, affiliated with the Spanish-language network Visión Latina. The station is owned by Innovate Corp., and maintains a transmitter on West 11 Mile Road in Southfield, Michigan. WDWO-CD is the only Spanish-language television station to serve Detroit; as a result, Detroit is one of the largest television markets to be completely void of major Spanish-language networks Estrella TV, Univision, Telemundo and/or UniMás. History The station was founded on April 13, 1989, but did not sign on until sometime in 1993 as W44AR (channel 44), owned by a local religious organization, Detroit World Outreach. LocusPoint Networks LLC was an owner of television stations in the United States. The company is 99% owned by The Blackstone Group. After selling off most of their in 2017 and 2018 in the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) spectrum auction and to other broadcasters, they owned one remaining station, WLEP-LD in Erie, Pennsylvania, whose license they turned in to the FCC effective February 12, 2019. One of the company's acquisitions, WMGM-TV, was rumored to have been purchased only to be sold in a spectrum auction in 2015. When the FCC auction finally occurred LocusPoint failed to successfully win a bid to sell the station's spectrum to the FCC. On June 26, 2017, LocusPoint Networks agreed to sell WMGM-TV to Univision Communications, through its Univision Local Media subsidiary, for $6 million. Tri-State Christian Television, Inc., doing business as TCT Network and TCT Ministries, is a religious television network in the United States. The network was founded in May 1977 by Garth Coonce and his wife, Tina Coonce. TCT Network includes traditional televangelism, talk shows, children-oriented programming such as '' TCT Kids'' (used to meet E/I mandates), Southern gospel music, and feature films with Christian themes. WUDT-LD (channel 23) is a low-power television station in Detroit, Michigan, United States, owned and operated by the Daystar Television Network. The station's transmitter is located at 8 Mile and Meyers Road in suburban Oak Park. History The station took to the air on January 4, 1989, as low-power W05BN on channel 5. It then became WBXD-LP on September 1, 1995, reflecting its affiliation with, and ownership by, The Box, which was acquired by Viacom in 1999 and merged into its MTV2 in 2001. The sale to Viacom put WBXD under the same ownership as UPN station WKBD (channel 50) and, after Viacom's merger with CBS, WWJ-TV (channel 62). Ultra high frequency (UHF) is the ITU designation for radio frequency, radio frequencies in the range between 300 megahertz (MHz) and 3 gigahertz (GHz), also known as the decimetre band as the wavelengths range from one meter to one tenth of a meter (one decimeter).
