WCLZ
WCLZ (98.9 FM) is a radio station licensed to North Yarmouth, Maine with studios located in Portland, Maine. Since 2001 WCLZ has been broadcasting an adult alternative format. It is under ownership of Saga Communications. Programming WCLZ operates 24 hours a day with an adult album alternative format. History The 98.9 frequency debuted on April 11, 1965 as WCME-FM, licensed to Brunswick, Maine about 30 miles north of Portland. The station began as a simulcast of WCME (900 AM). The stations played middle of the road (music) and aired local information. The WCME-AM-FM call sign eventually became WKXA-AM-FM. WCME
WCME (900 kHz; "Radio Midcoast") is a commercial AM radio station licensed to Brunswick, Maine, and serving Maine's Mid Coast; on-air, the station is currently known as "Radio Midcoast WCME 99-5 FM & 900 AM". Established in 1955, the station is owned by veteran radio news anchor and talk host Jim Bleikamp, and programs a locally-oriented, full-service oldies/soft rock radio format emphasizing news and local events. WPPI
WPPI (95.5 FM) is a sports radio station in the Portland, Maine area. The current owner is Atlantic Coast Radio. The station mostly carries the same programs as WEEI-FM from Boston. Some local commercials take the place of Boston commercials. And some WEEI-FM game broadcasts are substituted with Fox Sports Radio. WPPI also carries University of Maine Black Bear football and ice hockey, and Portland Pirates ice hockey. History The 95.5 frequency began operations in 1993 as WPME, simulcasting a country music format with 96.7 WCME from Boothbay Harbor (now WBQA). WPOR
WPOR is an FM radio station in Portland, Maine that broadcasts a country music radio format. It is owned by Saga Communications. It broadcasts at 101.9 MHz. History WPOR has had the same format since it signed on as an FM simulcast of 1490 WPOR, now WBAE, on October 31, 1967. WPOR was owned by Hildreth Broadcasting Corporation at that time. On March 2, 1971 WPOR and WPOR-FM were sold to Ocean Coast Properties. 25 years later in March 1996 WPOR and WPOR-FM were sold again, this time to current owner Saga Communications for $10 million. Through most of its history, the AM and the FM stations either simulcast, or for some years, the AM station used a satellite-delivered country music service, while live local announcers continued on the FM station. Fuller-Jeffrey Broadcasting
Atlantic Coast Radio, LLC is a radio company located in the state of Maine, owned by longtime broadcaster J. J. Jeffrey. It was incorporated in 1982 and has a staff count of approximately twenty. Prior to the current radio group, Jeffrey was a partner in Fuller-Jeffrey Broadcasting with Bob Fuller. Fuller-Jeffery's portfolio included WBLM and WOKQ but the company was dissolved in 1997 when Citadel Broadcasting bought the group.
