Irmo () is a town in Lexington County, South Carolina, Lexington and Richland County, South Carolina, Richland counties, South Carolina, United States and a suburb of Columbia, South Carolina, Columbia. It is part of the Columbia Columbia, South Carolina metropolitan area, Metropolitan Statistical Area and is located northwest of the city center. The population of Irmo was 11,097 at the 2010 United States Census, 2010 census. History Irmo was chartered on Christmas Eve in 1890 in response to the opening of the Columbia, Newberry and Laurens Railroad. The name of Irmo was the result of combining the names of Captain C.J. Owned by Sinclair Broadcast Group, the station maintains studios on Pickens Street in downtown Columbia, and its transmitter is located on Rush Road (southeast of I-20) in rural southwestern Kershaw County. WCOO (105.5 FM) is a radio station that broadcasts an adult album alternative format. It is licensed to Kiawah Island, South Carolina, United States, and serves the Charleston area. The station is currently owned by Lynn Martin. Its studios are located in Charleston, west of downtown (west of the Ashley River), and the transmitter site is in Mount Pleasant. History Originally, this station was WWMC, licensed to Moncks Corner, South Carolina and broadcasting at 3,000 watts. The Lumineers are an American alternative folk band based in Denver, Colorado. The founding members are Wesley Schultz (lead vocals, guitar) and Jeremiah Fraites (drums, percussion, piano). Schultz and Fraites began writing and performing together in Ramsey, New Jersey, in 2005. Cellist and vocalist Neyla Pekarek joined the band in 2010, and was a member until 2018.
